View Full Version : Great orchestration...
Found these links on the Swedish VST forum. See, you don\'t need any of those huge orchestral libraries anymore. Just use your own voice. images/icons/wink.gif

Hahahahahahaha!!
Very artistic.
I love it! I think I will star sampling my voice for orchestral works. Then I can throw away my other libraries. graemlins/tounge_images/icons/smile.gif

sounds fantastic... the first 10 and the last 20 seconds of star-wars i like most images/icons/smile.gif images/icons/smile.gif
(itīs very risky to sing such high notes; some of them will have sore throat now images/icons/smile.gif )

Tob,
Genius find!
Of course my only problem is the use of verb. They could certainly benefit from being properly sampled in a great natural ambient space.... oh.... say... a certain church... in your neck of the woods? Do I sense a meeting of the minds in your future? images/icons/grin.gif
Nice link

Toby, I see you found some stash from Jake Kaufman\'s site (virt). I\'ve known him for like....2 years, but I wouldn\'t call us friends. images/icons/rolleyes.gif He likes doing things as funny and pathetic as this time to time. I\'ve heard a lot more from him. One was about his dog. I swear he is bipolar. Although, he\'s done quite a few works for the game industry, and is quite talented, so don\'t be fooled by those tracks. images/icons/smile.gif HAHA!

That was hilarious! Especially the high stuff.
Yeah I met Jake too online and used to IM him, like 6 or 7 years ago when MIDI files were big. He\'s quite talented and has a very good ear, so I wouldn\'t be suprised if he did the whole Star Wars thing by ear.

The problem here is that voices sound too much like the sampled composer-voice libraries that are out there today.
If they sampled the composers voice, and then actually sampled the intervals between two notes, or used some sort of noise masking technology to make it more legato, it would be great! But as it is, it\'s kinda ho-hum.
Plus, it\'s obvious that there\'s alot of mud in the reverb program they used.
Blah hahahaha!! images/icons/smile.gif

Now, I mostly catch his stuff on Nectarine Radio (\"http://www.scenemusic.net\").
His \"Funky Pills\" recording of Dr. Mario themes is simply amazing. If any of you are familiar with the original music, you\'d never dream it could sound this good...
cool, unexpected buzz!
created an account really quick just to clear a few things up regarding star wars:
1) that\'s not individual samples at all. it\'s me singing each instrumental part all the way through in one take and then overdubbing.
2) by ear from the original recording, no score. i read music so inefficiently that it would be a waste of time and energy. and money, assuming i bought it on paper.
3) waves renaissance reverb, it\'s all i have for now. no pitch-shifting or other effects. i can sing that high. i wear very tight pants.
thank you
-jake
p.s. planning to redo the entire soundtrack in this fashion, including all sound effects and dialogue. main challenges will be r2d2 and chewbacca, of course.
p.p.s. hi allotropa! images/icons/smile.gif i\'ll mail you back shortly.
