Here\'s a neat little trick that can sometimes work. It may take some fiddling with the mix but...
Use the half tone trills and detune them about 50 % in the Giga mixer. then use CC 11 to fade it in under Sustain notes. In just the little bit of fiddling I found that with FF sustains you may want to bring back the CC11 or EXP (mod wheel) control a tad (on the sustains) to get teh right mix. If you use it for just little touches here and there, it could add some nice flare. Like the end of a sustain notes in dramatic passages.

BTW I only tried this with 1st violins....not sure about other ones. Should be the same tho.
