View Full Version : 1.5 BIG BUG?

After installing 1.5, getting a new serial number and a 60 digit authorization key, Kontakt does not see any of my instruments anymore, the scan window completely ignores my external drives.
What is going on?

I forgot to mention that folders with .wav files do not open either..

Well, it looks like with 1.5 you can only open the VSTi, the standalone application refuses to load.

Have you tried to uninstall and install the version you bought and then update with the 1.5 patch?

Btw. I think I saw similar problem posted on the forum at Native website.

I am having troubles with 1.5 as well. There are fewer options in the audio setup panel...you can no longer manually adjust the sample buffer, and so I can no longer get my latency below 21 ms running as a stand alone. I had it below 10 ms before, with no pops or glitches. This sucks. I hope NI cleans this up. 1.5 seems much less stable so far, too--I have had several crashes, which NEVER happened with the previous version.

One thing, though...at first I thought Kontakt would no longer recognize my instruments too, and then I discovered that now in order for that to happen you have to click on the folder name, not the icon. Not a big change to the interface, but enough to be really annoying if you\'re used to doing it one way. images/icons/rolleyes.gif

Well, I did completely uninstall and reinstall twice, the problem remains the same. I also sent an email to NI, no answer so far.

Jeannot, sorry your having trouble i know how frustrating that can be. I was having some problems too. Heres what i did, maybe it`ll help. Uninstal everything. Make sure theres no trace of any Kontakt .dlls etc. anywhere on your system. then reinstal 1.xxx using the disk and your old serial etc., then instal 1.2.1. and then instal 1.5 with the new Serial and reg.and then the DFD 1.24 ext. in that order. see if that helps..Rich

Rich,

Thanks. I did what you suggested, including cleaning the registry, same result, same problem.
Somebody on the NI forum suggested - the way I understand it - to install 1.5 alone after uninstalling the previous versions. I\'ll give that a try.

I installed the update yesterday without removing the previous installations first.

Today, I\'ve been editing ten songs I have made earlier without a glitch. Everything seemed to work perfectly fine with the new Kontakt.

Thanks Rob! I really appreciate it. Well, my site is very new (three days old) and I am so happy to have my own place in the net now!

By the way, I\'ve been experimenting with Kontakt 1.5 again and I have yet to stumble upon a bug that could directly affect me. I\'ve checked the NI forum and some do say there are bugs. I hope I won\'t run into something major!

I havent noticed a huge difference(a little anti-climactic so far) but maybe i have to play with it more. Also i noticed on your site(nice feel to it BTW) that u link to Izotope. do u use the mastering plug? If so how do u find it? Right now I`m using the waves L1 but im not crazy avout it cause i find it \"colors\" stuff a bit. I`m looking for something more \"transparent\". Like the Focusrite D3 plug. Only thing its only for PT and Im running SX on a PC. Anyways have fun..Rich

Rich,

Yes, I do use Izotope for mastering. I like it so far but it\'s the only mastering software that I have right now so I can\'t compare. Waves software was much too expensive for me and for that reason I went with Izotope. There is a new upgrade to Izotope 3 right now and it\'s supposed to give you both digital and analog warmer or something, but I haven\'t checked it out yet. I\'ve had too many upgrades for the past weeks - Sonar 3, Kontakt 1.5, CDExtract, bought a few more samples as well as recorded my own. I must let things settle first before messing up with the computer again. The upgrade, by the way, costs only $49 for registered users until December 1.

As for Kontakt 1.5, I haven\'t checked out the new features that much yet. Sometimes I just refrain from exploring too much as it gets in the way of the actual creative process when I get stuck in a feature I don\'t yet fully understand. Since the upgrade, I was just doing what I have been used to doing and so far there were no problems. One thing though, through all the Kontakt versions that I went through, it never crashed on me the way Giga did. I do like the warmth of the Giga sound though so even if it sometimes crashes, I still use it for this reason.

Thank you for visiting my site. The items at the links page are pretty much all that I have right now. Just enough to get me going.

J

Yea, ive tried the warmer and its very cool. It really does sound anolog! But it really affects the over all sound i find. I`m looking for something that has NO color at all. Maybe i should just try the izotope demo...Thanks Jamie and Nhick..Best to u Rich
