Sound doesn't stop...

Hello,
l use the mfx wrapper to use the pitch bend instead of the modwheel.
It works fine in live.

When l am recording in cubase, it works.
But when l play, if l stop the séquencer before the end of the music. The sound doesn\'t stop...

Do you know what l can do ?

Are you using the VST or the DXi?

When I use the Personal Orchestra VST in Sonar, I get that exact problem. Notes sustain when I hit the stop button...

Try using the DXi.

It happens because the sequencer is stopped before sending a note stop MIDI message (if it is in a middle of a long note). It also happened to me when using GPO studio. I\'ll investigate if using an \"all notes stop\" MIDI controller message will help and how to automate that although I would\'ve imagined that the sequencer would do that automatically.

I use the same sequencer, Cubase SX v2.0.1 and GPO VST and do not have this problem, when I hit stop there is a all notes stop midi message sent out that cuts the note, even if I stop it in the middle of a sustain.

Go through your preferences and make sure you haven\'t accidentally turned this feature off. I am not at home right now, so I don\'t have SX in front of me, but I will look into it when I\'m home this evening to see if I can give you better directions than that...

I had a very similar problem. After a while I found out that in the Kontakt settings I set the pedal mode to \"Normal\" (I was playing around with the Steinway) and forgot to switch it back to \"midi cc\". Try checking if this setting is wrong in your Kontakt instance.

I\'ve also run into this problem (except, I\'m not using the pitch/mode-wheel wrapper). I\'m using GPO with Logic as a VST, though it\'s kinda random - sometimes all notes stop, sometimes they don\'t.

Every other VST instrument I\'ve used in Logic never has this problem, including other Kontakt-based programs.

Also had this problem sporadically in Cubase and more in Logic. Sending midi control codes \'all notes off\' to all channels doesn\'t seem to stop it, nor does the Logic \'panic\' which sends note off to every note individually on every channel - so not sure whether this is really always a question of hitting stop during a note.

This always works for me though during one of these hangs do the following:
Cubase VST 5
- OPTIONS..AUDIO SET UP....SYSTEM...ASIO DEVICE - just choose a different one to the one that is showing - click OK - if it starts asking questions about re-mapping, testing the set up, just choose the least destructive looking/time-consuming choice. The hung notes stop - if the driver you have just chosen doesn\'t suit you, then repeat the process switching back to your preferred driver to carry on.


Logic 5
Same idea - AUDIO...AUDIO HARDWARE AND DRIVERS....AUDIO DRIVER 2 TAB...Choose a different ASIO driver by clicking in the ASIO driver box (or if only one TICK one of the boxes not ticked), I always click \'TRY RELAUNCH\' on the resulting dialogue. Ignore any subsequent messages/errors (eg xxx.dll not found) then switch back again to the preferred driver.

as misicpete as written, l have switch (in KONTAKT) the \"midi cc\".
Now, when the sound doesn\'t stop :
- l select the midi track (that play and play...)
- push one time the pedal

And it stop.
l hope someone while find another solution.

I use Fnale 2003a and GPO Studio 1.11 and this same problem. As weird as it sounds, though, when I installed GPO Studio 1.2 the hung note issue went away. Granted, now I have another problem--there is only once ambience setting: Ballroom 1--but I much prefer this new problem to hung notes!
