How does it work?
The most exciting aspect to this library is that the audio files can be imported into an audio editor and manipulate into additional performances. All vocal and sound design audio files are presented in - Natural or Sound Designed version (panned, reversed, ambient) * add a stereo image plug in and not only generate distance but control the amount of ambience as well.

Can one insert these files into SONAR the same as one would in Vegas? They appear to just be audio files that you can drag and drop. I don\'t see any reason they wouldn\'t be used just the same, unless you know of some unexpected pitfalls.

Yes that\'s right, no pitfall, go ahead and copy-and-paste into your favorite sequencer...

Here\'s a secret that the DIVA composer have been using.

Let\'s take a moving vowel: Aah Nah Zoh

Cut Aah
Cut Nah
Cut Zoh

Place in any order. Apply a small cross fade to avoid pops and there you go.

Simple stuff. There are many moving vowels and performance file <sung phrase> where you can slice and dice to make your own.

Of course this is ultra cool in the full mutli sampled DIVA when using HALion or Kontakt. Multi sample start times.

Another cool trick is to add a stereo spread plug in to your DIVA track. If you narrow the stereo field, the vocal will be dead center and somewhat ambient.

If you widen your stereo field, the vocal will still be dead center but you are now talking to the rear mics in the church. So the vocal will be super wet and distant.

You can hear this effect in any of the demos. The super wet/reverb is the composer altering the stereo field via an automated plug in.

The vocal performances are very flowing. I would say no to looping but of course you could.

Correct, Junk. It\'s a bonus file of one shot triggers that I had recorded a few years back form my own work. The sound is very good however and the files are very useful.

This is used with GPO in a sequencer, these are .wav files that can be imported into, say, the free Cubasis that was included with GPO, this way you can have the sounds of DIVA with GPO (like I have in Widow Of War) without having to have a stand-alone sampler.

One more question. I noticed from your demos there are no real actual words sung. Is this possible by (for want of a better description) joining the sounds together? Regardless, there are a number of pieces of mine that would completely benefit from this.

Not really, because not all the consonants were sampled, so some words could be built, but not all... she is more for atmosphere than singing actual words...

DIVA is a SOLO voice library but you can get a pad-like sound. This is more so available in the full DIVA not DIVA by design.

Notice the pad like ahs in this demo. They are made with the straight tone multisamples from DIVA Extended.

You don\'t have to start with DIVA and then move to Extended... that\'s just what I would recommend (or pick up the bundle, you save alot!)

DIVA is vibrato and Extended is straight tone, in the simplest sense... so hopefully that\'ll guide your purchasing. Extended really flushes out the original DIVA, but it\'s not neccesary to have the original DIVA to use it...

I am understanding correctly that VOCI is choir and will be released soon for GPO users? I will wait for this instead. My client decided last evening for more of a choir effect. When is the expected release if I may ask?

Sorry, can\'t talk about release times... Francis has already said too much (@Frankie: what pimp?!?) I can tell you that when and if VOCI comes out for GPO, it will be after the full version has been released and sold for a while. I would suggest starting with DIVA, Frank takes care of his customers - very well! It would not be a mistake...

Especially with the DIVA bundle being 20% off thru Sunday.

What is the difference between Diva and Diva Extended?

I must have answered this a thousand times but never saved a defacto answer /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I will list some basic bullet points...

Diva is 2 soloists and Diva Extended is 1.

Diva has all the vowels - Diva Extended has 3

Diva has performance files <phrases> Diva Extended does not

Diva\'s vibrato is thick and built in - Diva Extended has straight tone, delayed vibrato and mod controlled vibrato.

Diva has crescendo/diminuendo - Diva Extended does not

Diva has consonants - Diva Extended does not.

You get the picture. Diva Extended is an add on to what we felt was missing from Diva. Yes, you can use it on it\'s own but I would recommend the complete bundle to get the full Diva sound.

I apologize if this question is somewhat OT, but I am torn between getting the GigaStudio or the Kontakt DIVA Bundle. I currently own GPO and GigaStudio 96, and I do consider upgrading to GigaStudio 3.0 when (if?) it comes out. But some threads mention that Kontakt now also has a reliable and effective disk streaming method, so getting the upgrade to the full Kontakt player seems attractive too...

If the above cannot be answered, are there cross-grades possible between the DIVA versions?

I do not use Kontakt in my studio but I know many love it. I am on the developers list for GIGA3... GIGA3 should be outstanding! The fact that I can now use GIGA in side the Pro Tools environment is a dream come true. Of course, this is nothing new for HALion and Kontakt.

We do offer a cross grade at 50% of your original purchase price. So, you will save even more on a upgrade.

DIVA by Design is pure audio - not multisamples. The DIVA bundle <multisamples> is availble for GIGA, Kontakt and HALion.

Sorry, I missed this post. I am actually very glad you asked.
I just want everyone to understand that DIVA <Kontakt, HALion or GIGA> can only be used if you own one of the three samplers listed.

DIVA is NOT GPO integrated.

DIVA by Design is audio - drag and drop.

Bela D and Garritan are working on projects together hence, why we are offering his customers a discount.

VSampler loads instruments in the industry standard sampler formats AKAI™ (S1000/3000 CD and S5000/6000 .AKP), SoundFont™ (.SF2), HALion™ (.FXB, .FXP), Gigastudio™ (.GIG) as well as LM4™ drumkits and samples (.WAV, .AIF).

We never tested this but it seems like all would be fine. I would go with GIGA importing.
