Always when I play an instrument in GS fpr the first time after reboot there is a crack/drop out and the hard disk is working. After that the instrument can be played without cracks. Are the waves cached then? I thought GS always plays directly from hard disk? Are these cracks because I only have a 5.400 rpm disk?

I experience this also and I have 7200 RPM UDMA Maxtor hard drives for both software and audio files. Can anyone suggest what to do about this? Thanks!

I also have a Maxtor HD 40GB, 5400 RPM. My board is an ASUS A7V133 (VIA KT133A). Do you have different chipset? My RAM is 256MB PC133/CL2.
