One question, please... about the Vienna Symphonic Library.
Okay, I understand about the \"Orchestral Cube\"... no problem there.
But, someone please explain the difference between these:

\"Performance Set FIRST EDITION\" Strings
\"Performance Set PRO EDITION\" Strings

Is the only difference between them....the Solo Violin & Solo Cello???
If one were to purchase the FIRST EDITION Performance Set.... would that be everything in the PRO EDITION with the exception of the Solo Violin & Solo Cello? Thanks for your help, Gary

The PS Pro edition has more additions for each instrument i.e runs at more tempos, as well as all the performance bits for the new instruments that are in the Pro cube. click the articulation comparison for the performance set (its a popup) and see for yourself.

Almost forgot, they can \'upgrade\' you to the solo strings if you have the complete pro cube + performance set. I have first edition + Pro strings but no performance set so i don\'t know if they\'ll do an upgrade price for that also.

Iīm not the best guy to answer your question because I donīt own VSL products , but what I know is that First Edition has 90 gbs and Pro Edition has 240 gbs I think , so , thereīs many more intruments and articulation on Pro , and First donīt have solo intruments , Pro has all of them for solo!!!

Hi Gary,

IMHO - the perf grace leg patches are terrific!!!! Allowing for \'fast\' legato passages. And as Craig says the fast rep patches are quick and quite useful.

Thank you all for your help. Sounds like it would be better to go the full distance and get the VSL Pro Edition Performance Set.... (along with an extra hard drive for the computer to accomodate all that needed space. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif) I appreciate all the replies very much! Gary M. Thomas

First, this link takes you to a comparison of both libraries including the Performance Set.
http://www.truespec.com/store/samplelibraries/vienna/pricingguide.shtml (\"http://www.truespec.com/store/samplelibraries/vienna/pricingguide.shtml\")
http://www.truespec.com/store/samplelibraries/vienna/articulations.shtml (\"http://www.truespec.com/store/samplelibraries/vienna/articulations.shtml\")

The answer to your question is, \"no.\" The Pro Edition Performance set is greatly expanded (see link above) because it now has the full impressionistic orchestra along with the solo cello and solo violin vs. the classical orchestra of the First Edition. Pro Edition is substantially larger in both instruments available and size.

We also have a VSL Street Smart Guide that you can sign up for and download which gives more detail:

Feel free to contact me if you have more questions.
