Just wanted to let the GPO beta testers know that the new version of the NI player is available, with DFD... wait, did I say that out-loud! (along with a couple of other very cool features...)

Happy Testing...

Nope... it's a choo-choo train.

How does one break into the ranks of the beta testers for GPO? I'm a well-seasoned beta tester and would be glad to help debug -- and besides, beta testers get to play with new toys! :D

Hm. Too bad I don't know what DFD is...

It's the DirectFromDisc (DFD) Extension that - if enabled - allows streaming samples from hd rather than holding them all in memory. It eats far less memory, but requires a capable hd when stressed.

The new player is in beta now. When you get it depends on two things:

1. How fast NI fixes some remaining issues
2. When Tom stops adding new things to the update.:)

Sounds great Gary. :)

Btw...I know Tom mentioned some possible sample updates in the future.

I'm just wondering if this is a purely "non-sample" update so to speak (no samples changed), and any changes in samples will be adressed in a later update?

Just so we know if we can still come with suggestions regarding the samples, or if it's already included in this update?

Then again, Tom maybe found alternative ways to fix some "sample" issues without replacing and/or adding samples.

I figure it's better to wait until after this update to come with any suggestions. Anyways...really looking forward to it. :)

Cheers

Rodney

This is great news! As far as a 'samples' update (assuming supplemental material) I'm all for paying for it, no problem!

I continue to appreciate Gary's generosity, a huge plus for GPO!
