streaming from ram..vs. from hard disk ?

How does it compare? I am so new I will just change the subject...I have GPO and so I suppose the Tascam-Giga route which I was looking into when I found Garritan, or if I was using Giga-whatever, I believe this means I would be streaming from disk rather than ram... outside of what I would expect to be instant loading, what are the characteristics of disk streaming, as compared with ram streaming?if that is I even did understand this was a distinction, not in error?

I've found that DFD gives a small gain in instruments loaded. It would work best with the piano. There does seem to be a higher CPU usage especially in dense sections like very fast repeated short bows.

To know what I am missing I suppose as a typical human trait, is a thing which
always is present and "wearing on my curiousity"... to an "obsessed" degree
( mostly just curious to discover how best my sound might be enhanced, in any sort of way, or how I might improve my view or understanding of something)
