View Full Version : Installation Nightmare

I don't have the strength to deal with NI incompetence. I just want to make music...

The NI website would continuously reload...don't ask me why. No other website does. I got any number of warnings including: The serial number you entered is not valid. Please make sure you are using the orinal Native Instruments serial number. Additional codes like dongle keys do not belong to the serial number.

Logging back on it asked for my password...the website wasn't stable enough for me to create one.

When I try to recover my password, (how can I recover what doesn't exist?) it says my serial number is wrong. What's my serial number...the one from the book or the one generated on install? And where is that long install number?

Please help.

Never mind...I found a solution.

Thanks in advance for all future solutions.

imagegod,

Rest easy as this does not have to be a nightmare. first you have 30 days to fully use GPO without registering. So in the meantime let's get you authorized.

It seems you are trying to authorize directly. There may be a spam filter at issue, certain browser versions give problems, or it could be just a simple timeout. There is the option to register on another machine or to fax the registration. So give those alternatives a try.

If you are still having difficulty, contact me direct on Monday and I'll do what I can to get you authorized.

I really like it when GPO users find their own solutions. I think we have the smartest people here. http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Yeah well riddle me this NI! Registration hoax?? Oh for crying out loud. Not another headache trying to register another NI product. OK, how did you do it? I purchased Kontakt 1.5 (which may have been a mistake) and cannot for the life of me register the product. Oooooooooooooooooooo!

I've never had any problems with the registration engine at NI, and I have about 8 NI products that use the system plus I regularly beta-test for them and the betas use the same process...I don't know what platform or browser you are using but I suggest trying a different browser and see if that makes a difference. FWIW, I am on Mac OS 10.3.4 and Safari 1.2.2, and the NI site works flawlessly for me, although it can be sluggish to load at times.

If your using a firewall, then try disabling it before registering. It could be blocking information.

OK. I've settled down a bit after getting some much needed rest and ironing out personal matters. Now, let me look at this again. Firewall? OK.

I had some weird registration issues that were being caused by having VSTs in Sonar projects. It kept unregistering me every time I opened old projects. What a pain.

Makes you wonder what really is in control. ;)

Hey buddy, I just got to thinking that you use AOL right. Well that could be the issue. You need to set Internet Explorer as the default browser long enought to complete the registration process. Right click on the internet explorer icon on your desktop and then go to properties, then the connections tab, and then click on the check box that says "check to see if internet explorer is the default browser" or something like that. Then you need to start internet explorer, let AOL connect to the internet because that is your ISP. Then try the registration process. Don't mind me, I'm just throwing stuff at you. Maybe one of them will work. :o

No problem. I've already tried that and I was successful at connecting with NI but for some reason they weren't recognizing my password. I would enter it and then it would go back to asking for it again and again. If there are many people besides myself that have or are having trouble with registering on the NI website then there has to be more to it on their end.
Just a thought.
Besides, several sources claim I may have been sent an older version (not updated). This boggles my mind and rattles my sabre. If I ran a company as big as NI I would certainly make sure new buyers recieved the newer versions of a product. Just like day old bread. If you're going to offer it for sale, slash the price in half at least. Now I have to contact NI and find out what to do about it and I understand I can't do anything until this is registered!

This is a stupid question but did you email NI so they could send you your original password? That way you know you're using the right one.

I wonder how you find out what version of Kontakt they sent you? That way you will know if that version imports Gig files or not (since the original release did not.) I agree it doesn't make sense why they'd send a version of the program that old. I don't know but maybe you can't import gig files without registering your copy.

Hope you don't mind all these posts, I'm just thowing out ideas.

When I was registering GPO I couldn't get it to work, either.
It turned out that NI's website was simply having issues and it was up consistently. Since they had that problem before, it could presumably happen again, so you could just try waiting a couple days and see if it works.

Never stupid! Yup, did that a couple of times. I am giving it a few more days for them to answer my emails. I tend to get real antsy with issues such as this.
