Here's a preview of the new demo page:

http://www.garritan.com/GPO-mp3-Main.html

There are over 200 MP3 demos on these pages!

Please take a look and let me know what you think.

There is a spinning GPO Demo wheel to select genres (Classical, Hollywood, Modern, Broadway, Popular, Ragtime, etc.)

Below that is a sortable table where you can sort by GPO Artist, Composer and Title. There are "Play" and "Info" buttons for each song.

Before I go live with the new demo page please take a look at it. Let me know if there's any mistakes, bad links, etc. If your demo is not there yet, it should be soon. I still have many more demos to add. Many thanks to Scott Cairns for his help.

The music you have made is incredible and I wish to thank each and every one of you for this fabulous body of music.

All the links work except for the one that says "Orchestral Strings." I like it. So much easier to navigate. And I like that you have a selection up front that demo's the product, but if the person wants to preview more of what GPO can do, its a few clicks away. Thumbs up.

Much better!!!

I like the interface very much. The wheel is a good idea, IMO, I makes navigation really easy.

I loved it! The spinning demo wheel is a real attention-getter.

This is a very clever way to present the demos. It not only solves the ŇWhat to do with all these pieces?Ó problem, but does it in a unique and entertaining way. The categories seem logical and it would be pretty easy for someone to find what he/she is looking for.

Now if you had a little button that would set that wheel spinning away and landing on a random category, one might feel like he/she is in a casino. :D DonŐt take that at all seriously. :D

Make sure and get Ms. Davis Symphonic Poem up:) (couldn't find it)

2112,

It is under the Hollywood spoke of the wheel. She is listed as Danielle Davis, and the piece is entitled Memories of Father.

I just had to go up on it again and play around with the wheel. Won $100.000 dollars on the second spin! Thanks Gary... :D (yeah sure)
Anyforwhichitstands, I like this set up very mustard. This is a keeper Gary, don't ya think people! If not, Mugsy and Malone would like to have a thing or six to say about it.
Go ahead Mugs, tell him.
Mugs, MUGS, MUGS!
Never mind Gary he's busy counting his pennies from last night’s piggy bank heist!
(when can we experience GPO2?) New, boo hoo....

last we heard he was whipping up a concoction of new brew :p

Well organized and fun! If possible, it would be great to be able to search by composer name and title.

The tables are sortable so if you click on the title header it will alphabetically sort by composer name or title. We are working on a searchable database but it may be a little while.

You can list the composers, titles, artists, etc. in alphabetical order by clicking on the table headers for each category. Is this feature perhaps not working on some browsers?

Gary Garritan

Sorting doesn't work with Mozilla on my machine.

I was also wondering if all the existing demos had been put in this new page yet, but it's hard to find one if you don't know the category it ended up in. By chance, has my View of Mt. Fuji been included, and I missed it?

That is WAYY slick, Gary. With as much music material as you have to offer - it's great that you've gone to the trouble to create a dynamic navigational tool. The arrows feel a little backward to me, though - if I want to see the selection to the wheel on the right, I'd intuitively click on the right arrow button. However, that then means the motion of the wheel will oppose the selector. :D It's slick either way - nice work!

The revolving concept is great and it looks nice, however, I found a slight problem. I tried sorting and discovered that the two right columns don't sort . That is the piece may be Dvorak "New World" but info shows Mozart Magic Flute. The play button also has magic flute (sort by artist).

I really like the concept.

It's really good Gary but I would change the 'Microsoft look' of the left/right arrow buttons to some other graphic that would look a little less incongruous. Sorry to criticize....I'm not worthy.

I tried the sort again, this time at work, and it has the same problem. This time, however, I noticed that the photos stayed in the same spots instead of following the names.

As I said before, overall I think it is a great idea. It makes it easy to see all of the demos without being overwhelmed.

Hi Garry,
Yesterday morning, the demo page was working well, but from the evening (Montreal time) till now, there are problems. In the beginning, letters are appearing fast but disappear immediately. The wheel is also turning very slowly.
System: Mac G4, OSX 10.2.
Anyway, the concept is great and these are minor adjustements.

Gary GarritanGreat look and feel! Of course, great music. Once I am not working so much and Overture 4 is available, I intend to revise my little amateurish 2 mins.

If I may, sir...one edit. There's no 'd' in the first word of 'avant-garde.'

Sorry...college professor, you know...

The demo page works fine on my IBM (office), but is not working well on my Mac G4, OSX 10.2 (home). The problem on the Mac was not present in the very beginning of the presentation of the demo page on the forum.

Hi Gary, I was so happy to see my demo of Danny Boy and New World Symphony on the new demo page, but my last name is Kury, both are listed as Dan Powers, should be Dan Kury. Easy mistake though. Thank you again for all the joy you have put into my life with GPO!!!!!

Thank you for pointing out the things that needed to be fixed.

This is a work in progress and will continually be updated. If you have any more demos, photos or information you would like added, let me know.

There are over 200 MP3 demos on these pages and maybe we'll have over 1,000 in the not too distant future. :D

Again, the music you have made is fantastic and I thank each and every one of you. It is such a joy to hear your music and makes producing GPO all the more worthwhile.

Hey Gary,

Don't know if it's been reported already (I'd imagine it has been, but disgraceful as it is, I didn't read this whole topic ;) )... The last two colums don't change when you order the pieces by something other than the column "Sort". Nor are the links in the "by Title" column pointing to the right mp3 files.

Other than that I think it's certainly an improvement from the previous version of the demo pages.

Now, I feel stupid, but I don't get the sorting of the demos to work at all. I've tried the Hollywood and the Classics sections only, so comments only apply to these for the time being.

Example:
If I select the Hollywood demos and then sort by style, everything "seems" to be correct but the links stay in the same order. The first link is always to GPOAdventure.mp3, though the text for the link change, the second link is always to HummieMann-Alaska.mp3, an so on.
And it doesn't matter which column I sort on :(

Am I being plain stupid (okay, no need to answer that one...) here, have I missed something? I am running IE 6.0 on Win2000 btw.

Regards,
Rico
