My homestudio is placed in a 3,5-4 square-meter cupboard (it's true) so I would not fit in to take any decent photos... Its in me and my girlfriends flat, so I call it my playing-room or rather sanctuary! :p

When it is wintertime in Norway, it is really (REALLY) cold there so I can't sit there for more than one hour, unless I will risk to loose my limbs. It is not isolated and there are brick-walls and you actually hear the footsteps of people walking outside, that's how isolated it is. Despite all of that, I am still able to work there.

Hey Shantar, i think i can understand you man . I am freezing my butt here as well and also there are people all the day in and above my room complaining about my speakers ( :S ) so i can't even use them 95% of the time.... but i guess what matters in the end is what music comes out and the accomplishment feeling of overcoming difficulties :)

Theodor, I forgot to say that I barly ever use my studio-monitors because I am afraid that the people living above me, the one who owns the house that is, are going to complain and throw us out. But it does not stop there; all the pipes of the flat above me meets in a big pipe that goes right through the cupboard and everytime they flush the toilet you hear this annoying stream-sound. Thus I never do any mic-recording at home. The other problem I had to solve by buying myself a good pair of studio headphones, the Sony 7506, I think they are called. When I am finished with my education and have got a job and a decent income, I will buy myself i house and build a home studio. :)

You know Theodor; I looked at your picture again and suddenly realised that I should not complain about my working space. If you clean the desk (just kidding) and shot it from another angle, I could say more accurately who of us "suffers" the most. :p BTW,

Jan's Studio 2 (http://www.wavemage.com/gfx/studio2_l.jpg)

Don't be distracted by the fact that it looks somewhat tidied up, I made those pictures right after moving in. Rest assured that I corrected this deficiency shortly after and took great care to ensure that the rug is evenly covered with coffee stains and no horizontal stacking areas shine through anymore ;)

Cheers,

Co-Dwellers (http://server6.uploadit.org/files/sevaliath-Room1v.JPG)

These people are constantly in my "studio" ( one of them even sleeps in here ) playing Super Nintendo games and every few minutes they say : Theo......... ( no answer ) Theo ??? ( no answer - mouse clicking - headphones ) THEO !!!!!!!! ( turns head ) What ??????? "We are going out" (Finally -> Cool )

Oh well ; i am not at home which is originally in Greece at the moment, i am in Australia a billion miles away studying Music Production and i am happy i even have a room and some of my gear over here :)

No offense taken. I have the BX5s set up right now - with the LX4s set aside for surround mixes. My site's "Studio" like offers some detail on configurations that I use.

Like all monitors, they have their plusses and minusses, but they sound great and I've gotten to be reasonably apt at compensating for the coloration they impose (as all speakers are prone to do). I'm of the school that $500 worth of speakers plus $500 worth of room treatment gives you better mixes than $1000 speakers alone. ;)

yeh right, the only (or most important) thing that counts anyway, is that you know your speakers you are working with.

This is a comfortable workstation, it's not finished yet.....another beeched table is going on top (2nd floored table) over the computer screens, then I'll put a tv screen and the monitors on the 2nd floor table. Like Hans Zimmer at his home. I still need a good chair beside a IKEA one...ugh.

I would never put the midi keyboard ON the table you have the computer keys and mouse. Doesn't that get very uncomfortable?

Thank You !! I was fortunate to design a studio that is balanced between my needs and that of the company - gotta love native systems !! But a place like this has an extra cost ... meaning bills to pay, and 50-60 hour work weeks!! A few months out of the year I may do nothing but voice-overs for books-on-tape and educational testing. That allows for more flexibility when doing fun/creative projects - but there's a pretty good balance of stuff here. Out all the pics in the thread, this place is so clinical .... i really do miss the home-studio. Hell, i miss the college dorm studio with the 'ashtrays and beer bottle' motif! The creative comfort of being at home is much different and more inspiring. Even when ya may have a kid tugging a at your arm - it's very inspiring!! Great setups, all !!! Technology has surely graced us!

Gary: Yes, i designed all the 'stuff inside', not the shell - when i got here, there was only the Fairlight Fame (that you see in the back corner) and nothing else, just yellow walls. We were just set up for audio post-production, now it's a afull production/composition and post room. This is 1/4 of a production house. Other 3/4 are video/shooting stage, offices.

Kid: Fairlight Fame w/ MFX3 editor, which USE to be cool for post -- i affectionatly call it R2-D2. Now, its a very expensive boat anchor - any buyers ?? :D I never use it anymore - Nuendo for post (but Nuendo still has a way to go for post, still doesn't support pull-downs for film .. what a drag) !! Yeah, that's a BIG live room in the front, ill see if i can post some pics. Sounds great ! i use it for foley and recording myself, mainly. Who needs and orchestra, when ya have QLSO :D - Seriously though, i record alot of soloist when i need them, and it sounds great in there!

Waywyn: Yeah Godin -- i use it as a utility guitar, because of the GK-2 midi pickup. For actual GUITAR tone, its not that great, and the neck is pretty flat - i still prefer my classics, LesPaul/Strat/Tele. But the MIDI tracking is very good!

Here is my little room.

You can't see the ceiling treatment, but the bass traps in the corner hit cubes at the ceiling then splay outwards across the intersection of the ceiling and walls for five feet from each corner.

The top of the ceiling has a 4 x 6 absorption grid directly above the mix position, and a same-sized diffusion grid behind that--giving the aural impression of a raked ceiling.

Actually Lux is right, but if you really dont want people browsing through directories like that, you need to turn off "Directory Browsing" or "Virtual Browsing" on your server. If you dont have access to this control your server admin can do it. Its a big open hole in many peoples websites.
