OT Nvidia video cards co-opted as audio processors!

Just read about this on Harmony Central.

Bionic FX (http://www.bionicfx.com/) has worked out a way to use the processing power of Nvidia graphics cards (up to 40 gigaflops compared to 6 or 7 on an Intel/AMD's CPU) to process audio instead of video! Initially they're using it to support their own VST convolution plugin.

WOW. What a great idea. I have a 128meg graphics card that doesnt work real hard if a game isnt running. :)

This definitely falls into the "Now why didn't they think of that before?" category! I hope that it works and I hope they make it happen on a Mac...or better yet, it would be nice if others adopt this idea as well.

BTW, I could never understand why the people who invented those TC Powercore cards and the UA ones, never got together with the Altiverb people! At one point everyone wanted to use Altiverb and noone could sacrifice the processor juice that it needed. I would have definitely bought one if it would have run Altiverb!
