I have a big problem with my Gigastudio; the program crash after a couple of minutes of (almost) continous playback, no matter if using a complex performance or simply a single little program.
Note that the sound is perfect while the program is working, no crackles or noises, simply after a few minutes of playback it crash :-(

I find all this incredible since I\'m using a dedicated pc with only Gigastudio and Wavelab 3.0 (regular registered version) installed...

What I have done (without success):
- uninstalled and reinstalled the Gigastation card
- upgraded Gigastudio 96 from 2.20 to 2.5
- changed the pci slots of the Gigastation and GST 2120 Midi cards
- disabled usb in the bios
- optimized Windows 98 as shown in the Dave Casey web page

Now what to do???!!!
- unistall Win98 and reinstall it?
- unistall Win98 and install Windows XP?
- change the ram?
- change the motherboard?

Please help me!

My pc configuration:
Athlon XP 1700+
motherboard K7T266 Pro2
512 Mb RAM DDR (256Mb + 256Mb)
Windows 98 SE
Ego-Sys Gigastation (with latest drivers)
Gigastudio 96 (bundled with the card) upgraded to 2.5
video card 3D Prophet 4000XT 64Mb
Dvd-Rom Samsung
1st hard disk IDE 40Gb (for Windows and programs)
2nd hard disk IDE 80Gb (for Gig files only)
rack case with QuietPC PSU and fans

Many thanks in advance!

Hello Composer22, thank you for your answer.

>C22: Did you check for IRQ Conflicts in your card?

Yes, I did. No IRQ conflicts and no IRQ sharing with other devices.

>C22: Did you download the correct version for Win98? There is won 2.5 version for win200/xp and another for win98SE - be careful!

Yes, is the Win98 patch.

Win XP should work. You can pick up an OEM copy for around 99 $. If you go this way, remember to NOT UPGRADE but to do a clean install. Too early to tell if you should bother. Be careful in selecting the appropriate drivers on Win 98. You need win 98 versions of your software and any drivers you are installing.
