View Full Version : Anyone loaded conventional impulses into GigaPulse yet ?

I've tried to load some of my other wave impulses into Gigapulse .... and quickly figured out that it seems quite a complicated process.

If I understand correctly, we need to create a new GigaPulse Impulse file, then specify Micing Arrangements, then assign wave files to each mic ?

Since all my impulse files are currently stereo, I suspect I have to split them, and then assign LEFT and RIGHT halves to the Left and Right mics. Is there a way to easily split stereo wave files into a pair of mono wav files ?

- I guess I could re-record the wave file to two new channels in my sequencer ... with each channel hard panned.
- But is there another technique to split a stereo file into two mono files ?

Has anyone found any easier way to import existing impulse files, without going through the above process ?

Just another thought ... I guess the complicated process (if it is) is the price to pay for such a sophisticated convolution tool. No complaints ... but I can't find anything in the manuals to describe the impulse builder tools.

I use cooledit to split stereo wavs.

Cubase SX: File/Export/Audio with the split option.

I believe (not 100% sure) that they will have an impulse wizard to help with that at some point.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but how many free impulses are there with Gigapulse? I've seen Media Ventures studio and few concert halls being used in piano demos. Are there also smaller rooms like drum rooms etc? I haven't seen official impulse list anywhere...

I see 31 rooms of all sizes. Some are instrument specific. One is called Larry Seyer - Big ~~~ Toms

The Media Ventures room is a GREAT drum room. Huge bottom end, but doesn't muddy up the kick. Good for getting a more "overhead" oriented sound from a drum kit which sounds too heavy on the spots.
