GOS Eq'ing

Hey Guys!

Just have received my Gos last month and I must really say they are amazing! Fantastic work Garry!

One question I have:
Garry wrote in the manual that a bit eq'ing in the violins and violas section (around 2900) are getting a better "hollywood like" sound. And he is right ;-)

But what´s about the Celli and Basses Sections? How do you guys do the eq'ing issue with regard of the above mentioned sections?

Welcome to the board, Conner.

In addition to the 2900 you may want to try a cut around 1350Hz. With a parametric eq you can move these frequencies around slightly to get just the sound you want :-). Also rolling off some highs can give a greater sense of distance and blend.

For the GOS celli and contrabassi, you could try a compressor (soft knee) to give extra presence/warmth/focus (these sections can tend to sound a little "flabby") and/or similar eq to above. Good luck exploring the possibilities, these are just some starting points and in the end it is rather subjective.
