Alan,

I like it. What are the FX used on the solo drum track? Also, who made the demo?

Hans

Thanks Hans,

The effects were analogue modelled compressors that I forget the names of - and my demo maker is sleeping right now. His name is Griels (aka Greelz) on mIRC and K-v-R, not sure if he has an NS account - but I know he reads here.

I'm sure he'll read this tonight while I'm in bed and can hopefully post the tools used and any other info requested.

Thanks for the listen...

Another great demo Alan. I'm so glad I went ahead and preordered this. Keep em coming though, I like to see what I have in store. Any hard demos out there? That's really what I'm looking forward too.

Thanks guys!

Regarding the FX, I used Endorphin on the kick and Blockfish on the snare, both free from www.digitalfishphones.com . It was semi-programmed and semi played in - I'll try and do some more played in stuff soon.

I had a lot of fun writing this over the weekend - the left and right hits allow you to program very fluid flams and other effects. The library is so intensively multisampled that this demo only shows a tiny fraction of its versatility. At this sale price, it's unmissable!

Hey Griels,

Thanks for the kind words about the lib, I'm glad you enjoyed it...

And I just wanted to say - I think your demo is awesome, way beyond what I was expecting. Thanks again for posting the info about the plug-ins.

Drums sound fantastic Alan. :) This is probably the first drum set I've heard (aside from SID) that I really really liked.

Looking forward to the brushes!

Great to hear... Remember there will be some special VST's available to register users in the future as well.... It's not a purchase, but an investment :)

Hey,

I should know the answer to this but never asked...
Is the demo played with pads or keys?

griels

Partially played in with keys, partially programmed. I really should get a drum pad set sometime. :)

Dam! You fooled me. I thought for sure the demo was "played" with pads.

Well, IMO... a drummer can "play" what you did... but to "play" it on keys is badazz, bro!:D

All at once? Yes, it certainly would be! But my keyboard skills aren't THAT good ;)

Thanks anyway :D

Hey griels, just had a chance to listen to the new demo... awesome stuff!
I have DFH, and I was wondering - what do you think of the ease-of-use with Alan's library?
I heard all the multiple mics and bleed thru can be controlled from only one midi track?

I found it very easy to use... The default settings for mic bleed, panning etc were just right, and I only needed to add a touch of compression/gating on the kick and snare to add punchiness. The mapping adheres roughly to GM with some ergonomically chosen amendments to provide for left/right hits for the toms/snares. I don't know about the MIDI implementation for controlling mic and bleed thru levels (just used SX3 to mix things), but I should imagine it would be possible using one midi channel, at least within Kontakt.

Alan,

Is it only the Kontakt version that is on sale? I'd like to buy the Halion version of the bass, but the sale page does not include it.

I got mine! Can't wait! I also got an email from NI that introduces Battery 2.0 that looks like it will import Kontakt files as well as Kompakt libraries! Now, it probably can't handle the full mic positions, but it could maybe import a small dry sample of the kit, record the midi (with triggers:D ), and render in Kontakt. Kontakt has a problem with trigger modules that don't send note off commands(easy to edit after you play). If Battery doesn't have this problem, then this adds to the cool factor! Plus you can set up pads the way you want without having to re-map the triggers;) :p :D

I -Definetly- would Alan , but to be honest i am still a bit afraid of the Kontakt sampler .

I only have Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 at the moment and freezing tracks is not available , also i am not sure about what latency/quality i'd get

But, i have them on my "to buy" list for sure when i get upgraded ;)
