I'm looking for choir sounds so far I have checked out Symphony of Voices, a bit exspensive and Diva which just seems to have solo voices and not to much on the esemble sound . Does anyone out there know of other ones that would have full choir sounds . I'm mainly useing it for background but I still need quality sounds. Thanks for any help. :)

There used to be a lot of talk here about the upcoming "Voci" choir library from BelaDMedia (who makes "Diva" as well). I haven't noticed anything about it lately.
Voices of the Apocalypse will soon be replaced by Quantum Leap Symphonic Choir which sounds like it'll be even better (and more expensive:()

The Peter Seidlaczek "Enhanced Classical Choir" is the one I got (for around $220 in Giga format) when I decided I couldn't wait for whatever Bela D and Gary are thinking of springing on the market. (I have the HALion 3 softSampler which imports Giga and a number of other formats readily. The only confusion factor is that now I have 375 various vowels and articulations to choose from. It's a little overpowering organized this way.)
I understand that the ECC package comes in various other sampler models.
i hope this helps ... KevinKauai :)

Ugh....so many fun new libraries, but so little money....at least I can afford teh GPO update :D But seriously, you do realize if you come out with an awesome voice library that I won't eat for a few months trying to save up for it....

You're thinking of some other developer :D
The price point may be more shocking than the announcement.

If anybody wants to go it cheap take a look at Soundscan 28 - Acoustic & Synth choirs. Brilliant 2-CD set, one CD has wav/audio and the other CD has akai S1000 bank. All you need to do is extract the ISO/BIN from the akai CD and then find a converter to convert from AKAI format to soundfont2 or to sampletank or a format that you can load into your sampler.
Absolutely brilliant choir quality for $24 UK pounds and has some lovely synth choirs too which can also be used for some nice textures and pads.

I'm looking for choir sounds so far I have checked out Symphony of Voices, a bit exspensive and Diva which just seems to have solo voices and not to much on the esemble sound Though DIVA is two female soloists you can achieve this sound with the ensemble patches.

By the way, as of right now - the current choir market... I highly recommend Symphony of Voices.

I own SOV and the Siedlaczak (only the original one) and I must say I prefer the "Classical Choir" over the bland voices of SOV. I was quite dissapointed in SOV and thought they should have had choir staccatos, something missing from all but the VOTA.
Now this new one coming in November sounds interesting......!!!!!!!!!! :D

Thanks very much. This looks awesome and very fascinating for a person who works with children in that age group vocally!

The earlier "buzz" seemed to be "choir" -- as in adults. While the "Giovani" children are a terrific addition to the overall collection, some may have been expecting perhaps a Garritan-type VST adult choir. (I know that's where I was leaning.) In retrospect, I'm glad I got the Peter Seidlaczek "Extended Classical Choir" and didn't wait. (As I mentioned elsewhere in this thread, I got the "Giga" version for around $220.)

Francis,
I was disappointed too. I had been hoping for just a standard choir with Garritom's input. Whilst the niche children's library will be useful to some it's not the broad market's choir (with GPO's sound per buck quotient) I was hoping for. OK, You can't do everything (I understand that)........but perhaps someone else will produce the popular market's choir we're looking for!

I think it needs to be said that Bela D Media is not working with Garritan. The GPO choir via Bela D concept was killed.
The adult choir is coming - VOCI Editions 1,2 and 4 but as of today this has nothing to do with Garritan. Seems like a miscommunication here.

Still in editing.
If I remember correctly there was a project with Gary in order to add choir sounds in GPO. Is it still alive?
If i remember correctly the add-on was expected before the summer. Can you tell us something about a possible release date?
thanks

A 'children's' choir is a really nice idea and one that needs to be done.
I believe that many forum members here feel they might have been somewhat mislead by the talk of a 'choir version' of GPO (as in a serious adult classical choir) that would embody the same programming principles.
I too, feel that that is a project which needs to be done, but sadly has not materialized.
In all fairness, such a project is a huge undertaking. In my younger days I would probably would have done it myself. I have knowen of several good medium-sized choirs in the different locales I lived in.
To do it right would require an undertaking comparable to that of GOS's string section sessions.
East-West has recorded a choir in the same manner as their orchestra and with a comparable sound and PRICE TAG!! ...

Allow me to try to explain this situation once more ;)
I think it would be beneficial if Gary was to stop by and speak on the subject as well.
Here's the deal. Gary and I are very close. He's a mentor and he has helped my company grow by leaps and bounds. I had plans to track a large choir. We (myself and Gary) thought it would be a wonderful ideal to offer a special (lite) GPO version of my larger choir library to GPO users. Things did not work out or go as planned. Bela D Media will be releasing a large adult choir library but it is not intended for GPO users i.e., built into your GPO player.
I am sure you guys will get a cool GPO choir at some point. The Garritan team always hears the needs of their users!!
So with all that said... could we please not judge the worth of the children's choir library based on the GPO users need/want for an adult choir?
Styx, JB ... I'm off this thread, ok?
Thanks Guys.

Well, it has been a long time since the talk of Bela D and Gary's collaboration on a choir library. No one has mentioned it in a while and maybe your expectations were based on those old posts that mentioned it. For whatever reason, it isn't going to happen that way. And while yes, nexus & others, EWQLSO does have a library in the comparable price range of their orchestral library, their library does cost quite a bit more. But never mind. I will not speak of what Gary has in store, because I'm not quite sure what is coming down the road. And while I am somewhat dissapointed that things fell apart for the collaboration, I eagerly await all 4 versions of Bela D's library which includes the childrens choir and also a full adult choir. I do hope something is eventually on offer for the GPO player, for those of us that wanted it, but keep in mind that until Gary has released definitive information on that matter all we have is talk. Until then, roll quarters, roll penies, give plasma for cash, save up your Christmas money, for while it won't load into the Kontakt player, I have a gut feeling that these libraries from Bela D, will be wonderful and worth the money.
Styxx
11-05-2004, 05:20 AM
