i would like to load one instance of stylus and have 8 arrange window trakcs. and drag and drop different elements onto the tracks....like in the drag and drop tutorial. however i cannot make this happen. can someone walk me through it. thanks.
heres what i did:
loaded rmx into the input of an audio instrument (multi version)
created a multi instrument and patched it to that audio instrument
enabled 8 channels on that multi
dragged that multi on to my arrange window it made 8 new tracks.
i then in rmx went to mixer and loaded grooves onto track 1 & 2.
i dragged and dropped the correspoonding midi files onto mult 1 and multi 2 (in arrange)
press play....and nothing.
please help. thakns
Your audio instrument must have its "midi Chann" set on "all"

what happened to it?
and yes i reinstalled the new AU update 1.05 from stylus.

To have 8 channels of RMX, you don't need to load the "multi channel" version.
No muti outs available on Logic 7 either. I think they took it out of version 1.05 because it was simply not woorking.

im running logic 6.4.3 and stylus 1.0 and the multi works.
how else could i run 8 channels of stylus (one instance) in logic? i want to arrange the 8 channels though in the arrange.

Just follow the steps given by locash but instead of plugging in the Multi Audio version of Stylus, select the Stereo Stylus RMX pluggin (his 1st line).
All the other steps are exactly the same.
A plugin doesn't need to have Multi Audio outputs to play several MIDI channels. And you can play all MIDI channels in the same RMX instance beautifully.
Cheers.

oops... I just noticed that :D
No need to say I was very tired and did not pay attention to the similitude of the author's name.
So I'm sure it was even easier for you to understand my post as you just had to reread your own post :D
I wish I will pay more attention in my work today :p

well I followed the instructions and still ended up with nothing. naturally watching the video demo on line this was the feature that was most appealing and I have yet to make it work.
could someone elaborate on the instructions a bit or has something changed since logic 7
i really want to make this happen :(

You should be following the pdf instructions for setting up Logic for multitimbral use on the community page for RMX:

Go to the Audio Instrument layer of your environment in Logic. Go to the "New" menu in the top left corner. Select "Multi-Instrument". A box with 16 little boxes inside of it will pop up. See that little triangle at the top right corner of the new multi-instrument? Click and hold with your mouse, and you should see an icon that looks like the end of a guitar cable. Drag that cable to an audio instrument.
You should get a prompt asking you if you want to remove the channel port setting. Select "No".
Now select the Audio Inst that you just cabled to. (AudioInst 01, AudioInst 02...) In the parameter box that is on the left of the screen, where it says "MIDI CH" click and drag your mouse till it says "All".
Now in that Multi-Instrument box, click on numbers 1 through 8 (so that the diagonal line that was through them disappears). These 8 new MIDI channels will now be available in your Arrange page when you go to choose a type of track. These will be the 8 MIDI channels you drag and drop the RMX MIDI files to.
As stated before, you do not need a Multi-instance of RMX to have 8 MIDI channels available. But you do need the Multi-Instrument you just created to have separate MIDI tracks for your 8 separate drag and drop MIDI files.
If you want to separate the 8 MIDI channels in the RMX to their own outputs, then you do need to activate a Multichannel RMX instance. By utilizing aux tracks in Logic, each output from the RMX can have it's own audio object (fader). The (obvious) advantages of this are being able to treat each MIDI channel in the RMX with Logic's plug-ins, sends, automation, etc... (although basic automation is available from the MIDI channels you created from the multi-instrument).
You select the RMX Multichannel as the input to the aux channel, and you're good to go.
This is all a lot easier to do than to explain. Hope this helps...
