Im looking for a small/medium string library that doesnt cost too much . I have Edirol orchestral, GPO, and EWQLSO Silver. I do alot of string orchestration, and Edirol's strings are good but theres not alot of them (the samples are like perfect though), GPOs are good, but theres something about them that i just dont like :D . maybe im picky, and EWQLSO has good basses but i dont think theres enough of the articulations, great quality though!

So far, ive found Advanced Orchestra Strings, and Ultimate strings. AO Strings look like they would compliment my other libraries nicely, and its bigger than Ultimate strings (im looking at older libraries because i like the way they were recorded better).

Perhaps i should just buy Silverpro when it comes out or something instead of these? I could use slightly more brass..

ALso, is there any good chamber lib. besides the VSL one?

Thanks!

I'm going that way myself.

I just made a somewhat lengthy comment about strings in this thread:

The VSL chamber strings are tempting, but very expensive. Good reports from users. The EWQLSO Gold strings require using kompakt (or kontakt) and have very heavy reverberation. The 'platinum' articulation samples included with gold sound far better to me, alas!

Although there aren't too many demos yet, you might want to consider Kirk Hunter's Concert Strings:

I have the VSL Opus1 and I ordered the Session Strings to complement it. I've been interested in the Kirk Hunter Concert libraries as long as there has been any information available about them but there seems to be rather severe problems in the company as the strings still haven't been shipped to the pre-ordering customers and there still aren't any decent demos available. You might do fine with the Session Strings and save your money for the Concert Strings. Hopefully the Concert Strings will actually be available when you have saved enough money. Ultimate Strings seem to be a nice option too but the Session Strings might complement the Kirk Hunter Concert Strings better as there aren't that small ensembles in the Concert Strings.

I think your statement was "rather severe". I expect my order to arrive soon.

I hope it does. The strings were supposed to ship in August and now we are in December. I know they added the third microphone setup but the people pre-ordering before that paid to get the two microphone setups in August, the third one should have been a bonus that would have been shipped to the pre-ordering people after the additional programs and samples were finished. No real demos either. Can you think of another company that creates such a hype for products that don't exist? Haven't you noticed this (http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27760) thread?

...third one should have been...As to the delays, sometimes these things just happen. I am sure Peter and Kirk are not happy about the situation.

If you were someone who had actually ordered this library, I would support your right to complain about it. When I look back at many of your posts, I see you complain about a lot of things.

Atleast in this thread I didn't complain about the delay but pointed out that the library isn't yet available even if the website says it should have been for months by now. I'm not interested in paying in advance for products that don't exist but I'm still disappointed because the information about the strings has been around for ages and the strings might have been useful for me in several occasions. I also make positive comments about products and companies I respect. I don't think there is anything you should be offended by.
