Can't copy pmi 24 bit GIGA cd material to the hard drive. Won't copy. Defective disk? I get the following error message: "Data error. Cyclical redundancy check."

It appears some of the disks sent out have issues. I'm waiting for a replacement Emperor/Kontakt disk. I had exactly the same error message as you.
I suggest you contact the author directly. That's what I did and got a fairly prompt response. I would suggest everyone who's managad to copy their disks successfully make a copy of them; mass copied (and probably at high-speeds) DVD-R media is not a good long term storage medium.

Hi John,
Typical problem that can be caused by out-of-date DVD-Rom player drivers or the disk itself. If you have another machine you can try to copy all material to that one to make certain the disk is defective, if you don't we will just ship you new disks.

Thank, Michiel. I've had no problem copying the old lady and other material, so I assume it's the dvd. Send me another, to be safe.

Did you find that the pmi dvd had the problem while all the other dvd samples loaded fine? (EG I can copy Old Lady to the hard drive no problem, just not pmi bos).
Cheers,

I didn't have prior experience with samples on dvd-r. Certain other dvds (burned) worked, but i had some vague problems that could have been caused by my firmware-update-laziness.

Hmmm... I'm having a problem copying the .nkm file from the DVD. The old lady Kontakt Bank. It's the only one I can't get it to copy. I've tried everything I know. Michiel, could you email me the bank file? I think the problem has to do with the file being put on the DVD as 'read only'. Thanks!
Also got the cycle redundency error on sample 39's lady A2. Couldn't get it to copy no matter what. Something wrong in the wav itself. Hmmm....
Jeeze, there's more than one sample giving the error. And trying to do it one at a time didn't help either. They're still giving errors. :(

Updated my firmware, tried copying from the command prompt, nothing seems to work. :( Man I really wanted to play with this thing tonight. Oh well.

Sorry to hear of it Joseph. :(
I too had problems copying from my DVD (Emperor/Halion/SX/Mac DP 2.5).
Michiel sent me a replacement disc which I just received today (Thanks Michiel!). Unfortunately, it also is having problems. Luckily though, the problems were affecting different parts of the discs. Soooo, I was able to pick and choose what I needed and was able to "collect" what I needed from the two different discs. The hope is that you can do the same. When you get through it, I can guarantee it will have been worth it! ;)
Best of luck! -Tweed

You can buy CD/DVD cleaner disks. I have one that has soft brushes on the underside. It includes a program that directs the laser to the two brushes for the prescribed amount of time.
It may not always work, but it's nice to have, just in case it does!

I recently received my Group-Buy-Bundle from Michiel. Unfortunately
it came not in the format I ordered (Kontakt instead of Giga2/3).
But Michiel already replied to me that I would receive new DVDs.
Apart from that, I thought that I still give the format I got a try
(though I don't use Kontakt lot's for streaming from disk...)
But same for me. I really had big time trouble copying the files
from the DVD to the harddrive. For the Old Lady, I could read
95% of all files from most of my computers, but not the rest.
I finally managed to find a Sony Vaio notebook that could read
the 5% rest of the DVD.
For the Emperor I could not find a single computer (and I do have
quite a few at home & in the office) which could read the entire
disc. I could probably get like 80% from most of the computers,
but the rest failed miserably. Even in a DVD-recorder I could not
read the rest.
Next step I took was to try to make an ISO-image with Nero
to try to mount it with a virtual DVD-device. But this did not
work out either. When building the ISO, the first part of the DVD
could be read really nicely (at up to 9MB speed), but after 80%
things started to get messy. The rate dropped down to 504kb
and then stopped fully.
Michiel - I'm not sure if it is your DVD-writer, or the kind of
DVD-R or DVD+R you are using, but I think you have to take
another look at your distribution-method...
Best regards,
Tobias
I received the Emperor Kontakt version DVD about two weeks ago. I have two separate MAC G4 systems with different model DVD drives. The disc failed on both of them. I am waiting for a replacements from Michiel.
