Sorry to be a Scrooge, but since Spectrasonics does not sell directly to customers, they cannot offer a group buy. Mr Pershing already confirmed this.

What the post should have read is group buy wish for Ilio. They have been an exclusive distributor for spectrasonics for a long time (although in recent years others are selling their products as well).
One of the things that kills me is their unwillingness to lower prices of their older products who many would consider obsolete. Me thinks those would make excellent group buys...products like:
Distorted Reality 1 and 2
Hans Zimmer Guitars 1 and 2
Burning Grooves/Liquid Grooves
Heart of Africa 1 and 2
Heart of Asia
Metamorphosis
Retro Funk
Etho Techno
Supreme Beats
and just about their whole older line.
I think considering what $199 gets you nowadays (and in many cases $99 as in the East West Pro Sounds Platinum line) many of the above mentioned products are ripe for a 60% off type of sale or buy one get 2 free!

Yes, Ilio and Precisionsound with group buys for multiple libraries.

Yeah, Hans Zimmer Guitar group buy (and the other stuff too! (too expensive for me without the group by deal).

I agree completely. Doug at EastWest did say that the Gold Group Buy would have to end tomorrow as other group buys are waiting in the wings. I wonder what they could be...

I would also caution developers to not jump into the group buy thing with unrealistic expectations. The unprecedented success of QLSO Gold depends on several factors (timing being a huge one). If others are expecting to see sales for their products to soar above the 700 mark like QLSO, they better not be disappointed when those figures don't even come close.
For example, even if Horizon Opus 1 was offered as a $400 group buy, I'd be willing to bet that their sales numbers would not reach as high point.
Hi,
I agree with you midphase. I believe that it is up to Ilio whether or not these products get discounted or put into a Group Buy. There are some older Spectrasonics libs that I would love to have and have not bought yet but their price (in comparison to others) have stopped me. The only time I buy a library under these conditions is when I need it for a project and can't get any other similar product for a lower price.
If you own Stylus RMX, some of these libs are available for $99 US as one of the expander modules which is a pretty good deal. For titles such as Heart of AFrica or Asia, it is less desirable at their current prices, especially with Rare Instruments 2 set to come out.
Nevertheless, there are some Group Buys about to start in the new year so hopefully there will be a few interesting ones.

p.s. - If there was a VSL Opus 1 GB that got down to $400, I would certainly participate but then, I already own Gold and did not buy it as part of the current GB.

I suspect that Eastwest are counting on getting people hooked on Gold so that they will either upgrade to Gold Pro or Platinum. Its a clever way to snare users.

Group buys are really cool, but people need to be honest with themselves regarding Spectrasonics.
The aformentioned titles have completely earned their projected sales goals over the years. I can absolutely understand and respect why they wouldn't be interested in the philosophy of a "Group Buy". The quality of their collective work has no business, nor does it deserve to be reduced to a nominal price, in the name of pushing units, and raising revenue. IMHO, they're not in a place where that is an attractive idea; i'm sure they're not trying to figure out how next months overhead will be covered.
My viewpoint might be in the minority, but I think sticking to their guns on the price schedules make a distinct point as to their product.
AND, Stylus RMX? That's worth a couple grand on it's own, if you ask me.

Snare? I doubt, if that's the case, that it's a very big snare. Some in the group buy who might never have purchased it to begin are probably not inclined to spring for the upgrade. There will be some, but not as many.

Because I for one would not really be buying it since I just spent $400 on Gold and for the time being I'm standing pretty good when it comes to the orchestral thing (and so do many others). Also by the time that happens the holidays will be over and that sense of spending money will be a bit diminished. Also because at year's end (now) more pros are looking to cut down their 2004 taxes and charge some last minute business expenses, January 1st will be too late to do that. Lastly, NAMM is coming up and everyone will be announcing competing products that might make people hesitant to spend money on a possibly obsolete product. There are more reasons but I think these are the main ones why I don't believe Opus 1 would get as many sales as QLSO Gold....but then again I could be wrong.
