OK I am really getting a little upset... I love this product and I have only been able to complete 3 projects with it. Here is the deal...

This is the error in Windows XP Home and the same in XP Pro
http://www.resistedresonance.com/limited/e01.JPG

Here it is in Windows XP 64bit
http://www.resistedresonance.com/limited/e64.JPG

All the same exact error, It doesnt matter if it's Cubase 3.0 or 3.01 or RMX out of the Box or updated to the latest version.

I got an e-mail from Support which was useless now its going on a week and I can't do squat...

Other users are reporting similar crashes yet no one has an answer.
I thought Cubase was the problem but I am not sure.
It worked fine since I bought it. Now it won't.
I need to speak to someone directly...

Your assistance is greatly appreciate as will your product once I can use it again.

My office number 504.553.5637

I've re-formatted my drive 4 times with different Operating Systems in
hopes of finding a solution on my own.

A user experience more sever problems (Blue Screen of Death) said:

* I disabled ACPI in my BIOS (even though the Steinberg article says it shouldn't be necessary with XP)
* Then I did a complete re-install of XP (including HD format)
* Then I installed XP SP2 (so before the audio drivers - which are usually already there when you install SP2
* Then I installed the audio drivers
* Then I installed SX3
* Then I installed 3.01
* Then I installed the rest.

Says he's up and running again.

I believe he mentioned that he is already in touch with tech support. If you're encountering an unusual problem, the right thing to do is just what he did: contact tech support. They can collect the necessary information, conduct a one-on-one dialog to help you, consolidate any problem reports with those from other users, and track the resolution of problems.

Eric and I try to visit forums like this occasionally to provide general product information, but this is not meant to be a replacement for tech support.

How much did you guys pay for this product that you think you should get 24/7 support - and into the holidays even? Did you guys get a written service plan that you'd get a full and complete resolution in 15 minutes or your money back? I'm surprised that there's not a Spectrasonics employee at your house for the New Year's Eve party...

Last I heard from support was 12/28/2004

Hello Drada,

Thank you for the comprehensive information!

Yes, it appears 3.01 has some issues with RMX, but not all systems, all the
time.

We're hoping to find out more from Steinberg once they have returned from
holiday.

For now it is probably best to revert back to SX 3, if you need to continue
a work flow!

This was my reply...

I have done that and It's still the same. I even reformatted the drive, reinstalled the OS and the apps with no upgrades. At which point I can play tracks 2-8 but whenever I try to preview track 1 of RMX I get the same error. So I am at a loss. I even went to XP 64 and I got the same error.

Here are some screen shots of the error:

http://www.resistedresonance.com/limited/e01.JPG
http://www.resistedresonance.com/limited/e02.JPG
http://www.resistedresonance.com/limited/e03.JPG

Here is the same error in XP 64
http://www.resistedresonance.com/limited/e64.JPG

And all of the errors are just running one instance of Stylus RMX. At this point I have wiped the drive clean again. Installed XP Home with all the updates minus SP2(resource hog) and reloaded my hardware. I will wait to install Cubase and Stylus RMX till you guys figure out a solution.

System:

AMD 64 3200+
1GB Geil PC3200 Ram (two 512 sticks)
Western Digital SE 80GB EIDE Drive for OS and Apps
Western Digital SE 120GB SATA Drive for Data
M-Audio Delta 2496
M-Audio Revolution 5.1
GeForce FX 5500
Plextor PX-712A DVD±R/RW Drive
Biostar K8NHA Grand with Nforce3 250GB chipset

All the latest drivers and bios.

Thanks...

By the way this product is the ~~~~, I'm just pissed I can't work on some pending projects.

:(

I know it needs to be resolved, but waiting sucks. I hope a resoution comes quick.

Hi Guys,

In an attempt to clarify........when I said that perhaps jdrada deserves some help, I was simply applauding the completeness of his request and without the bitching.

This is simply a show of support for his M.O.,.... not a critical demand on Glen or Eric. Any interpretation in that direction would be incorrect.

Jdrada is a new user, a new member and obviously no dummy.

Speaking only for myself, I truly appreciated the time Jdrada took to clarify his issue.

We have all seen so many come onto these forums with expectations that are more like that of a high chair tyrant than a brother with a question.

That being said, I hope my post can be framed a little differently.

Thanks Guys!!!!

RMX works great for me with SX3.

What are your system specs?

jdrada
01-02-2005, 02:04 PM
I know because of the complexity of what is involved it will probably take some time to resolve. Speaking to others with the same exact problem the common denominator has been:

Windows XP Home
realtek Audio Card (Mine is built into the Sysboard and disabled in the bios)
M-Audio sound card (Mines is a Delta 2496 and a Revolution 5.1)

Maybe that can help some...

Being a Muti-Property Systems Manager for Marriott I understand the situation which can be extremely frustrating to the user but being on the other side I know what support deals with in resolving Software/Hardware conflicts.

Jdrada,

I've got absolutelly the same problem on SX2.01 - RMX opens, and when I click any sound in the library it crashes Cubase and throws the same error window. After I close Cubase I immediatelly get another error window saying ReWire.dll couldn't be accessed at D:/somestrangepath. I'm not sure what the ReWire thing is (I don't use Reason and never checked if it's running). Please post here if you find the solution.

What are your specs... I got tired of waiting so I just ordered a Hammerfall HDSP 9632 ($484) because I have a feeling it's relative to M-Audio.

Your problem is different. SX2.2 is minimum spec for RMX.

I have SX3 (latest update) and an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 latency 256, PIV 2.8ghz, Win XPPro (latest updates) 4gb ram. I have no problems with RMX so it's probably not the 2496. What are the rest of your system specs?

I have a P4 2.4 mhz with 1GB RAM.(Intel Board-D865PERL),
M-Audio-2496.
Recently formatted and re-installed with:
WinXP SP2, Cubase SX3. (latest updates)
As soon as I try to play a sample I get the crash- rmx.dll.

That's weird. I have exactly the same specs as you do except for the processor and have no problems with RMX and Cubase SX3.

Do you have the latest version of the 2496 drivers?
What does event viewer say about the application?
Are there any problems with other VST's in Cubase?
What other PCI devices do you have installed?
Have you tried unistalling and removing the 2496 and reinstalling in a different slot?

Good Luck!
