Hi all, I now own a keyboard which I can use with Cubase etc. I'm so happy, that for the occassion I did some improvisation for you all to listen. It's a famous hymn by Handel.
I use GPO organ. :)
Btw. I'm still getting used to the keyboard so keep that in mind. :)
Listen! (3.8mb) (http://www.falcon-creations.com/mp3/improv/salmur9_1_mp3.mp3)

Btw. Remember to think up theme or melody for me to improvise for the next chat - I'll improvise during part of the chat. :)

Heyyyyyyyyy! That's great! Now all you need is a monkey to go with that new organ grinder ya got! :D
No, really ... this could be the beginning of the year of the falcon1! Nice piece and you seem to handle the keyboard quite well. Looking forward to hearing more? Now, you're playing in live right?

Hehehe... I thought you would give me some of your monkeys? :D
Thanks, yes it was all played and composed/improvised live. But the hymn melody was by Handel, like I said. :)

I don't know if I can "Handel" any more. You're way too talented to be sitting in Iceland! Someone had better pick you up soon before you turn out insane like me! :D

No comment on the improvisations? :D
Hey Falcon1,
I am currently listening to improvisation 1 and am truly enjoying it! Well, well done! I am not familiar with the hymn, it would be interesting to hear it played as a simple hymn to compare with the improvisation.
I envy people like you who can improvise so well. Unfortunately, it is not a talent I have been able to develop well. :( Improvisation, to me, is the ability to take what is in the deepest part of one's soul and express it musically. There are two key components: 1) Having the ability to find that place inside and `hear' what it is saying and 2) Have the talent to express it musically. My problem is I can hear it, but I can't get the right notes out. This is probably the number one thing I envy of others. People can be rich, I won't envy them. They can be beautiful, powerful, whatever. I don't care, I am what I am and am fine with that. But those who can musically express on the fly I envy them.
How did I get on that tangent? :o
Thanks for posting this, I am going to crank up improv 2 and then come back and listen to improv 1 again. I am totally enjoying listening.
As far as themes for the chat session and since it is still the Christmas season I'll suggest the Handle's Hallaluja (sp?) Chorus from The Messiah. The theme is well known, powerful and begs to be magnified through improvisation.

Hi LFO, thanks for listening. :)
I agree to what you say about improvisation - and of course it's also a fun thing to do. :) The best thing about improvisation that there are really no errors, except if you're improvising in a given style.
Btw. here (http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/t/h/i/thineist.htm) you can hear the "simple" hymn. :)
All comments are appreciated! :)

Well, sure, uh... um, hmmm, well, since I already know you are a professional organist, I'm not surprised by your recent renditions. I am not familiar with the first hymn, but Abide With Me is one of the hymns I have always loved too. Your chords and timing are way different than how I have heard it before, but variety is the spice of life!
You are very talented no doubt, and don't I remember that you are only 25?
But hey, I'm an old fart at 48 and have no training at all so there.... hah! gotcha :p
This is from Johnnie Carl's website, it is his arrangement of Abide With Me. He was the music director and writer and arranger for The Hour Of Power television program that is in it's 30th year of broadcating here in the USA. He has arranged over 3500 hymns and songs.... WOW! He was the victom of bipolar disease as he so sadly took his life 12 days ago. Unfortunately, Roger Williams (well known pianist) runs out of notes in his third decending octave run, typical show off as he is  I'm sorry I didn't mean to take away from your post, but I knew you would enjoy this rendition since I am already familiar with some of your style.

thanks for the comments - and yes, I'm still 25 years old. Abide with me is just a perfect hymn, and when the arrangement is excellent too - like in the Jonnie Carls example - then I just get a goosebumps all over!
Of course Abide with me is on my list to arrange before I die, but it's often more difficult to arrange (and be happy with it) when the melody or hymn owns a special place in mans heart. Maybe it's my "Beethoven" syndrom at work, I don't know.
Yea, it's sad when people take their lives! Never understand why people do that. :(
