Agreed Houston! I got the Diva Bundle during Frank's last sale for 25% off I think it was. I love it. Even the Diva By Design stuff, which I waited on installing, because I didn't think I would use much, has surprised me with where it's fit into my music.

Heck, if it gets cheap enough I might pick up the bundle again for my cousin. He is starting to get into all this sampled music composing and his birthdays coming up.

I have Diva already too. It's quite a fantastic library!!! Got it when it first came out... at that time I think Giga was the only format available and the samplers I had were Giga and Halion. Since then, I've gotten Kontakt and that's become my main sampler.

If this Group Buy takes off it might be a good way for me to finally pick up a Kontakt version and to get the other two parts of the bundle as well. Will have to find out what my options are!

Yes, Diva will run on GS3 Solo. And of course, you are dealing with a classically trained solo voice, so GS3 Solo's limited polyphony count is not an issue.

The entry fee is the cost to enter the group buy. If 100 or more copies (Giga or Kontakt/HALion) are purchased then your entry fee is highest cost to you. If the sales fall short... the cost will change depending on what level is reached.

For example:

This means that if we reach the level of 81 units purchased. The DIVA bundle will cost you $112.49 and not the $87.50 that was charged to your account.

That would be the group buy closing balance due. Your card will be charged for the balance.

Using Diva requires the use of the full version of Kontakt or Gigastudio to load it. You cannot load other instruments in the Kontakt Player other than GPO. However, there is a nice upgrade to the full version of Kontakt. That's what I did.

As for the different formats, I have the Kontakt version and think its wonderful. Kontakt is much more flexible of a sampler than Gigastudio or HALion (I have all three samplers) and believe this format of any library to be the best when custom versions are made.

I don't know who did the custom Kontakt version, but before I bought I asked Frank a few questions about it through email and not only was Frank awesome about answering questions, but he even sent one of my questions to whoever he hired to make it so I would get the right answers.

I think any version would be good, but I can give the thumbs-up for Kontakt.

Thumbs up for Kontakt here too - having been a Giga studio for years, and then Halion. Ultimately it depends on your needs though.

If you're doing huge numbers of voices and and have (preferably) a dedicated machine and already have a library then Giga might be the way to go. Unless you're on a Mac.

One advantage of Kontakt is that if you have or wind up with a lot of the Kompakt player based libraries, for example like the ones from East West... then you can open all of those in Kontakt and tweak even further. And it really gets to be a lot of fun when you can build your own programs and multis using elements from the various libraries. You can't do that using the players that come with the various products since they are dedicated to each of their particular libraries.

There is no "DIVA" difference in each format. The price change is due to the fact that Bela D Media had out sourced programming for Kontakt and HALion. THIS YEAR... I am the Kontakt master:D and will be outsourcing GS3 work but there will be no price difference with future libraries. A deal was struck 14 months ago and it is what it is.

Is this like the Vienna Symphonic Library legato tool? In other words, you have samples of interval jumps that automatically insert? If so, does it work for both Giga and Kontakt? I didn't know Kontakt supported that. It would certainly be great since I'd prefer Kontakt!

Question #2 (file this under: "It doesn't hurt to ask") : If I buy BOTH Giga and Kontakt formats, do I get the second at half (crossgrade discount) off the Group Buy price?

Francis, I think I've got an idea how to speed things up :)

The goal is to reach 101 point ASAP. The sooner it gets there the bigger the chance of a flood effect.
The problem is a risc factor. First 20 subscribers risk the most, while they that come after the 101 peak have a norisk bargain.

So, why not encourage people to subscribe earlier starting a progressive discount scheme like below. Surly you'd have to calculate your own numbers, but you'll get the idea.

ex. #1

Reaching every quantity point would add additional 1% bonus to all existing subscribers.

So if there were 25 subs, first 20 would get 31% and those later five their regular 30%.

If flood happened and the groupbuy reached 500 point, then:

20 subs that entered first would get -74%
10 subs that entered after 21 point -73%
10 subs that entered after 31 point -72%
10 subs that entered after 41 point -71%
10 subs that entered after 51 point -70%
10 subs that entered after 61 point -69%
10 subs that entered after 71 point -68%
10 subs that entered after 81 point -67%
10 subs that entered after 91 point -66%
400 subs that entered after 101 point -65%

Yeah, the gradated buying scheme that rewards subscribers for signing up early might be cool... but the developer would have to hire a team of special accountants just to keep track of it!

As I stated before I already have the regular Diva and I am still probably going to go for this. Looks like it will be THAT good a deal if it makes it to the lowest price.

As 'Bill' mentioned... some of us are just coming off the lastest round of GBs <pant, pant> so, the 'procrastination' is just a necessary evil dictated by our credit cards (and wives for some, I guess!) otherwise you would have had my order already!

Also, I was curious to know - how much extra 'usability' do the legato tool and the Diva Extended package add to the library?
I had the chance to play around with the basic Diva library a few months ago (without legato tool), and while I was very impressed with what it can do, there were some things that did not come out quite so credibly - most notably faster passages. Does the legato tool solve that fast moving from note to note? Do the added samples of Diva Extended solve it? How is the staccato? I have of course listened to all the demos (which all make very impressive use of Diva), but most make a slower moving use of the library..

What will the new paid version of the legato tool add on? Also (fingers crossed), will there ever be a Vota style word building tool for Diva?

Sorry for the barrage of questions, but I am keen on knowing how much of a 'solo' position can be assigned to Diva in piece.

First and foremost, and hear me on this... DIVA is not designed for fast vocal passages. My intent from concept to completion was to create an ethereal voice. Nothing out there comes close to DIVA for that sound. The Basic Legato Tool (Created by Jeff Hurchalla/Garritan) will allow you to play lines in a more connected fashion and faster.

However; please remember the recorded vocal attack is slow for a reason.

I cannot comment on the possibilities of the Advance Tool as I am not the creator of it, nor can I guarantee it's arrival.

I believe the heavy use and customer base built around DIVA speaks for it's self. You will not find a more emotional, human sounding set of solo vocals for that price. Period~

It’s funny, I get so much good use out of Diva and I haven’t even scratched the surface of all the things possible to do with it. I remember when I was younger that there would always be a patch on a new synth that would inspire a composition just by the sound. Diva does this for me on a daily basis. It is not only excellent in a musical sense (in its great sound), it also inspires. That alone made it more than the price of admission (and I paid full price). At these prices it is a steal. It really is a must-have. This is a great opportunity to grab it. It’s very cool that you have offered this Frank!

I'm just going to have to check my strained accounts for the month and see what I can do here...

So from what I understood from the informational pdf, the advanced tool won't just be software but will actually include additional recorded samples? Interesting.

Oh, and if you ever make something along the lines of "DIVA Coloratura Soprano" with word building features, I'll be ready and waiting for that too! :D

I am a little confused about this. Perhaps it has to do with the somewhat proprietary nature of Northern Sounds forum compared to other forums.

For example, at the k-v-r forum, I have never seen the moderators of the forum complain when a someone (especially someone not affiliated with a non-sponsoring company) posts about a good deal something. In fact, there is a "marketplace" section at k-v-r that is for that purpose.

I think as long as you are not pushing your product, the users of these forums generally insist (and have) the right to publicize deals they think are good for other members of the forum.

I just don't think you should feel any obligation to limit the publicity. It is for the benefit of the users of the other forums, even if it has the effect of benefiting you.

I am curious, have the "powers that be" in other forums complained to you?

Anyway, this is just my perspective. Take it for what its worth.

Since i think that this is a great offer, which i'm, in I've advertised it on the Cubase.net forum and VSL forum...
On Cubase.net (which is Steinberg's) it was not a problem, :)
but on the VSL forum I was "told that it is not good to behave like this..." :eek:
so i've said that i was sorry for that.... :o and i won't do it again there :(

It's kind of simple. We have our own user forum and the first member to plug a Children's Choir other then Giovani will feel the wrath :) just messing.

Frank, its a success right now. I'm not concerned really. I love Diva and the guy I bought it for will think its the freakin bee's knees when I give him the copy I signed up for. The way I look at it, its gonna be a steal either way. For some reason this one isn't getting the exposure the others did and its been commented to me that there's a lot of people that are just now seeing these posts. Maybe it was bad timing? Who knows. At any rate, the people that signed up are still getting a deal on a masterful library no matter how you slice it.

Try offering an extra bonus to the first 60 (or whatever number) of group buyers. I think this is what Gold did and it really helped get it off the ground.

Well our scale is pretty low as is and we did bonus the first 20 buyers with a huge savings on the upcoming Children's choir library. Good thought - any more out there?

Here is my analysis, for what its worth. I think the hobbyists are what really sets off explosive group buys. The problem is they are less willing to part with cash than the pros who are making a living with these libraries. My impression is this group buy has been pretty well promoted on other boards (especially considering it has not, yet, reached the lowest discount levels).

The problem here is the hobbyists have limited funds for groups buys and this is a niche library. Please compare the breadth (not the quality) to something like EWQLSL or even GPO (which was not a group buy). In those cases, the hobbyists see a chance to get huge breadth at a very low price. With the acoustic pianos, the PMI Old Lady group but was the first shot (that I know of) to get a top quality sampled piano for a huge discount, so people jumped at it. If the C7 group buy came out first, it would have exploded even more and, I think, the Old Lady group buy would have been less successful. I do not think future sampled piano group buys will get the same type of response as the Old Lady and C7 (but, I have been wrong before).

Now, the question is whether you want to try to further discount the price of this product to get the huge influx of hobbyists. I don't get the impression you are interested in this (and obviously, you have no obligation to do so, and I am not suggesting its not a great price already). Its just that its a niche product and I think a lower price is necessary to entice the hobbyists doing electronic and other music (who could definitely benefit from this product, but have to ration scarce funds).

I had only a vaque awareness of Bela D before this group buy. (and I own everything!).
This group buy got me to their web site and listening to their demos.
The quality of the demos and just as importantly - the class with which they are handling this group buy have made a strong impression.

I have been on the fence about buying this lib. I have no real need for it but at these prices..... heck - I am sure it will be useful if I had it at the ready.

I missed the early buyer bonus and I have to say that if it was still part of the equation it would be even harder to resist pulling out the CC.

But I think the group buy is already very successful for Bela D.
I may not buy now.
I may not buy the next lib.

But I will ALWAYS check out anything they put out from this point forward.
and I am sure that I am not the only new fan of Bela D because of this group buy.

Buyer fatigue - Namm - ewql choir -and the fact that this lib fits a very unique niche probably combine into a smaller/slower turnout right now.
But I would not be surprised to see this thing take off in the last week !

It's not any nichier (spelling?) than most other libraries. It's all a question of do you have a need for it? I have no need for woodwinds in my music so for me to purchase a woodwind library at any price would be a weird decision.

The ethereal vocals on the other hand fit right in my music and I can't wait for the upcoming releases from Bela D Media, especially the male version of Diva, if such a thing is going to be made. (Pleeeeease Frank?)

I think that the lower sales in the group buy could be from all the people who already own it. Alot of the composers I know here already have Diva. I guess it has been very successful for Bela D Media already and that there are not many that don't already own it that would have a need for it.

I think the lib is a fine value as it is, but one possible sweetener which could probably boost sales would be to offer a file from the children's choir-just burn it to a CD without any artwork. I couldn't imagine it would cost you a single sale of the children's choir, and it might even stimulate the sales of that product.

EWQLSO did a similar thing when they added a small sample of VOTA to Silver. It certainly swayed me to buy it over GPO and made me a big fan of VOTA.

I bought GOLD at 995 bucks plus shipping etc. Two weeks later the Group buy appears, tough luck. But I am not demanding EWQL to give me a discount on what I paid. I would leave well enough alone, really. Diva is a superb library that filled a void in my sample libraries and I was happy to pay as little as I did when I bought it 6 months ago. There should be no other needed discount/offering. WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE! :D Frank, you're known for quality at an excellent price. You have a great heart and a great desire to treat your customers with respect. I hold you and everyone working at Bela D with the highest regard. If others don't want to join in, no worries. But I just think its taking some time getting started good. Your compassion for worrying about those that jumped in already is testament to your kind nature.

In my humble opinion... if you were to seriously contemplate giving away a copy of Giovani, you should at least make us work for it. You could consider some sort of contest open only to Diva users. The contest could be something like best use of Diva in a composition. The winner of the contest wins a free copy of Giovani, with perhaps a couple runners up getting some sort of discount.

Agree, like I said, the theme here is the group buy. I don't expect anything else. You do what you need to do to increase your customer base and sales. Whatever you do, I am for it. Be it nothing, be it whatever. I am just so surprised that nobody else has jumped on. Still, when i signed up for it it was an excellent deal. I was the third. So I knew what could happen. Like nothing at all. It could of stopped at 5. But i was going to get it anyway at 20% off which is an awesome deal for the superb quality. It will fill a void in my collection
