Can anybody recommend a source for reliable reviews of classical music recordings? I've been trying to build up my collection recently but the sheer volume of stuff available makes it pretty overwhelming. I'm currently looking for great performances and recordings of Barber's Adagio For Strings (I have three versions now but they all suck), Vaughan William's Variations on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, Pictures at an Exhibition (orchestra version) and Scheherezade. Any opinions welcome.

I have the version that's used in the movie 'The Elephant Man' (1980). It's on the original soundtrack together with the music of John Morris.

There is only one source for this IMO - Gramophone at http://www.gramophone.co.uk/ and their Gramofile archive.
