An embarassment? It's a sports event, fagawdsakes! Are you implying they took a dive, or played significantly less than their best? If not, then why go that far? Somebody had to win, somebody had to lose. Otherwise it's not a football game... I haven't seen it yet (major jam session at a friend's house with some really excellent musicians and a couple of stinkers (including the guy who threw the party, but they're all really nice folks even when they play badly) but I saw bits and pieces, and it looked to me like there were two professional teams out there working their butts off.
Be embarassed when you personally screw up in public in some obvious way. Don't be embarassed when a bunch of guys who made more for this game than you or I will this year were on the losing end of sporting match. Unless you were ON the team? THEN you can be embarassed...

A man had 50 yard line tickets for the Eagles-Patriots Super Bowl Game in Jacksonville, Florida.
As he sat down, a man approached him and asked him if the seat next to him was available.
"Yes," he said sadly, "the seat is empty".
"This is incredible", exclaimed the man. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Super Bowl, the biggest sports event in the world, and not use it ?"
Somberly, the man replied, "Well... the seat actually belongs to me. I was supposed to come here with my wife, but she passed away. This is the first Super Bowl we have not been together since we got married in 1967."
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else - a friend or relative or even a neighbor to take the seat?"
Shaking his head he replied, "No. They're all at her funeral." http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

HA, that joke is awful....yet so funny. :D
As for the Eagles, I dont' think you anyone should be embarrassed because of the game. They played a good game, the Patriots just played better.... And on hindsight, I should have bet on the game. I predicted the 3 point Patriots win. Oh wellm guess that's why the say hindsight is 20/20 ;)

Um, I didn't watch the Super Bowl (don't really care for the NFL), but didn't the Eagles only lose by three points? Am I missing something? That isn't exactly a blowout...

I was attending a Berklee Alumni seminar in Austin, so my former professor and I just caught the last 4 minutes in the bar upstairs at the hotel. I told him that my Houston Texans would be in the Super Bowl next year to which he replied “You really think so?” I said “Yes! They will be sitting in rows 6, 7 and 8”.:p :D

Personally, I think the Eagles are the best second best team to ever play in the Super Bowl. :)

So did I. I was all ready to throw in a hearty amen on that.

People wouldn't be so mad (including myself) if Donavan McNabb would have actually played like he cared out there, but he didn't. They had a chance to win the game but he just gave up and threw in the towel.

Well, at least they weren't the Buffalo Bills steamrolling all the way four consecutive super bowls then sitting on their azzez through all four! I swear it's all fixed. At least half time was interesting. :)

Amen, Craig! Yes, they only lost by three points, but still, the mistakes they made looked like ones highschool JV teams would make... they had THE WORST time management... EVER! There was 30 secs left to the 1s half, and they had the ball and they're just like, walking around back to the huddle, it was like, CMON!!! same thing with the last 30 secs! Andy Ried is by far the best choker in the NFL...

I don't know.... the Tennessee Titans missed tying the Rams by a yard on a last second pass by McNair to Dyson... I think more people remember how the Titans lost than how the Rams won! ;)
That... and it didn't hurt that Helen Hunt's character in "Cast Away" told the story to Tom Hanks' character. The theatre here went nuts during that scene.
