Kontakt has never "had" to be on the C drive. It will install where you tell it. The VST dll has to go in the vst folder of course.

StrangeCat,

In Windows, you can assign ANY drive letter you want to any drive.

It is always a good idea to have your main system hard drive (the one that holds the Operating System) to be assigned Drive Letter C:

If you installed a DVD Player and it was assigned Drive Letter C, you CAN change its assignment.

Not true. You can't change the drive letter of the partition that the OS is installed on.

This is true - once windows is installed on a partition you can't change the letter of that partition, but it is possible for windows to be installed on a partition which could be assigned any letter, not just C. I'm running Windows on D along with Kontakt and have not had any issues.

Thanks for the correction.

The KEY point is that this user SHOULD be able to change the DVD drive letter assigment, and should be able to install Kontakt.
