I keep running into references to GOS Light, but I can't find it as such on the Garritan home site. If it can be purchased separately from GOS, I would like to; if not, oh well, because, at least at this time, I can't afford the full GOS.

Thanks,
Tom

They can be purchased separatley. Heres a link to them on audiomidi.com, and they have good prices :)

Thank you.

When I went over and checked it out, the site didn't say whether or not GOS Light is also in Giga format or some other, so I assume it is also in Giga format? That would be good since I have Gigastudio 160 and would much prefer that to the Kontakt Player (just personal preference).

Tomcat,

Since most of the patches in GOS Lite were included in GPO, we discontinued GOS Lite.

Well then i would just get GPO then since youd get the rest of the orchestra too :)

Although, i do think that the GOS strings sound much better than the GPO ones even though theyre the same samples...maybe because theyre in 24 bit? I dont know...they sound more clear and bright.

Is that perhaps one of the advancements in GPO Advanced? It will include the full GOS? (what with GOS 2 in the works and all)

Now that would be pretty exciting... :D

OK, thanks Gary. I have GPO (got it through Peter Alexander so I could get the free pdf Rimsky-Korsakov book). I also got Paul Gilreath's book on Midi Orchestration and he suggested having an auxiliary sound set, so I was looking for a second set of strings, but if I already have them in GPO, that solves that problem. :D

GOS, GOS Lite and GPO are all 16 bit. The same samples are used in GPO although they have more programming to make them more flexible using fewer samples.

auxiliary sound set
If you want "more" I would suggest GPO Advanced when it comes out.

:) ;)

LOL, I have every intention of getting Advanced as soon as it becomes available. Jazz and Big Band too!
