(Since we have a thread about Pictures at an Exhibition, lets stay on a theme of Mussorgsky…)

This is aimed at Styxx or anyone else who has worked on The Wizard of Oz lately – I was watching the movie last night when suddenly I heard some Mussorgsky. It was at the witches castle and the music seemed to be lifted straight from Night on Bald Mountain (or whatever the real name of that is), it sounded almost note for note.

To somebody who has looked at the music - Was I imagining things or is that really in there?

I noticed that too! Back when I watched a few months ago . . .

Near the beginning on the farm, I believe they also use "The Happy Farmer" by Schumann? Quick, go watch again!

Newsflash: we were both right . . . :D

From IMDB.com :

Non-Original Music by
H.R. Bishop (from opera "Clari, the Maid of Milan") (uncredited)
Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (from "Scherzo in C Minor") (uncredited)
Modest Mussorgsky (from "A Night on Bald Mountain") (uncredited)
Robert Schumann (from "Happy Farmer") (uncredited)
Herbert Stothart (from "The Wizard of Oz" and "Marie Antoinette") (uncredited)
Egbert Van Alstyne (from "In the Shade of the Old Apple Tree") (uncredited)

They are so evil, not crediting unoriginal music . . . tisk tisk tisk

Although I guess back in those days they didn't credit much . . .

By the way, a lot of interesting useless trivia: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032138/trivia I'm sure Styxx has already read it all :D

Thanks Sean. I'll have to watch it again sometime and try to pick them all out.
