GDC.. Whos Going?

Hey guys,

Just curious who all is going to make it to GDC this year, the audio track looks like it's gonna be very interesting! It's my first year going, so Im pretty excited.

I have gone to the last 4, worked for the last 3, and lectured at the 2004 GDC. This year I plan on being there and just hanging out during the Expo days. The most I may get is an Expo pass, but that is doubtful. The G.A.N.G. awards I will attend and there always a few free to all sponsored sessions. All that and meetings will keep me plenty busy.

I'll be there. And for the first time, with ZERO pressure on myself to walk the job booths or hand out demos or any of that unpleasantness :) Just chillin', listenin', learnin' and yes, imbibin'.

Gonna be there all week. Booked my flight and hotel for Monday before I knew the audio track wouldn't begin till Tuesday. :confused:

Maybe zip up to Napa for the day. I'll be the guy sitting beside you Tuesday reeking of Cabernet.

haha... and I'll be the guy next to you that reeks of burbon. Im getting there tuesday night and staying through sunday... thought I might as well see some of the sites after the conference ....like alcatraz. The audio track looks like it's gonna be damn cool, alot of great lectures.

Am I the only one feeling cheated out of the mobile/audio stuff? I just couldn't get my head around buying the mobile pass just for the couple of audio-specific things over there.

btw, I'd be interested in an NS gathering. There's a G.A.N.G. thing on tuesday evening that's gonna be like 40 strong, and that's too damn many strong, I'd say.

I don't know nuthin bout S.F. though, so I'm not able to make a specific proposal. So, if someone wants to pick up that ball...

I emailed and complained about the Audio Plus pass not getting you into the mobile audio stuff. Seems ridiculous. The lady who responded both times said they are going to fix it for next year....nothing they could do about it this year or some lame thing.
Ya I've booked a the hotel (americania) and am flyin in on monday am. Would like to meet some of the NS crew the hang here. NOt familiar with san fran so will wait to see if someone picks a place.

Hi All

I'll be at GDC All week.
I'm not going to the FF San Fran show (but I went to both the LA and Chicago ones) - but I'll be meeting up with folks, no doubt, and the more the merrier.

I probably won't make it to the GANG event on Tues, but you never know.. does seem rather big! But good to see the spirit of the event is still positive.
Anyway I'd be glad to join up with anyone if they go out for drinks or try to crash an X-box party or two. :)

nice to meet those of you I haven't talked with much before! (Didn't know about the Game Audio section of Northern Sounds til recently)

I can`t go (have to work).. But those who visit the Alias booth can check out the music that i produced to accompany there Games Reel this year. Some of the CGI that was made with Maya is phenominal !! :) have a good time guys... Rich P.

OK, this is what I suggest for a get-together. Wednesday evening is probably the most open of the GDC nights and 5 to 7pm is usually a dead zone of activity, so howz about this. We all meet at the following place:

6PM Wednesday to the right of Stairway 13 (Near LLB-13) next to the pillar. As you look at the EXPO Main Entrance from the outside of the Expo, turn 80 degrees to the right and you will see Stair 13. Find the PDF map here:

Check the INFO BOOTH manned by the Conference Associates during the day for any change of plans (After 6pm, the booth will not be manned).
From the meeting spot, we all head out for food and whatnot.

If we can agree on this, lets start a new topic called "GDC NS Get-Together: Where and When", or something similar, so the information is easier to find. Perhaps someone can also post the information at G.A.N.G. once we agree. If there is a major conflict, someone say something! ;)
