Hi Academy teachers, welcome.

I post my first personal idea for a sequence of lectures:

"music dissection: learning by elements, about elements"

here we can start creating innovative and flexible didactic, discussing abot the importance of single elements, that are crossing harmony, melody, rithm, counterpoint, orchestration. it can be a sort of digest analysis for musicians from beginners to experts.

Some sample:
"the tension":
rithm weak and strong accent
melody climax and single note wheigt
Chord meaning in the harmonic sequence
phrase meaning in the form
orchestration choice for the phrase meaning

and so on...(you can cover the whole music knowledge in this way)

sigle topic dissection:
"melody climax and note meaning"
tethrachords, scale, mode
grade of the scale meaning
note sequence design

single element dissection:
"tethrachords and scale, mode"
the tone and the half-tone meaning and positioning, natural and temperated
C,D,E,F as a cell of melody ("fa mi, mi fa est tota musica" E-F and F-E is the whole music, J.S.Bach)
the tone and the mode, a matter of half tone positioning
alternatives: the pentatonic scale, the blues scale, the whole tone hesatonic scale

etc. etc.

Sounds like alot of words I will need to look up in the dictionary. I for one will read every word. I hope there will be midi file examples that Cubasis can run as well!

Don't worry, this thread is intended to be for teachers only, and my words are probably not fully correct, because I'm translating by memory from my Italian terminolgy.

For studetnts, it will be only and everytime fully understandable. MIDI samples included! :)

Well I can teach the following:

Harmony (Basic, Medium, Advanced level)
Free/stright Counterpoint (Basic, Medium, Advanced level)
Orchestration (Basic, Medium, Advanced level)
Forms (Basic, Medium, Advanced level)

However, I can't take many students due to heavy workload. :)

Sounds like cool stuff, Fabio. And your English is a heckuva lot better than my Italian!

I'd offer to help with the teaching, guys, but after all those years of rock & roll, I only know 3 chords... :)

What part of Italy do you live in Fabio?

Anyway, I am starting to plan out in my head how I want to approach the teaching part of this. I have to keep in mind that most here want to eventually compose orchestral music. I am so looking forward to this, I want to see if I inherited any of my composition professor's super powers.

Hmmm... did your professor have superpowers? :D
To say the least...Super teaching powers. He did go to Eastman, NYU, and Peabody (before it was part of Vanderbilt). I believe he had a Bachelors in Composition/Theory, a Masters in Education, and a Doctorate in Flute performance. So I guess he earned his super powers. ;) That and he got to take a master class with Aaron Copland and other composition greats of the time.
