Would it be possible to run Gigasampler thru a Diamond MX300 card (which I know works with GS) alongside a Yamaha SW1000XG card for harddisk recording while running Cubase or Logic? I have a fairly powerful computer (P3 500 with 128 meg.)

It shouldn\'t be a problem. The SW1000 has its own Directsound Drivers for it now though. They are OK not brilliant. That means that you could route GS through the SW1000 to get FX and use the Diamond card to get the better latency. The SW1000 only uses one IRQ for everything (which is handy)

I think I don\'t know how to get this to work....but how exactly do you route the GS through the SW2000XG? I can\'t seem to find it in the GS configure menu.
Thanks

The current shipping SW1000 drivers that work with GS suffer from 2 important flaws.
1. Latency is about 4 years from the point of midi triggering.
2. The SW1000 hogs the outputs in the config screen of GS.
My idea was to use a Diamond or Montego to do all the Midi-in stuff therefore decreasing the latency and still retaing the SW1000 outputs for adding reverb EQ or whatever...
The idea is only an interim solution till Yamaha do a second updated release of their driver that will bring latency down and show other cards output device drivers in the output window...
I hope this makes sense...

Kia,
Thank you, you have been much help. I have finally got my SW1000 to work, but s you said, discovered that there is a long delay between input and output. I\'ll now try and route the midi in from another card. Thanks again.

Tell me more about your system setup..When I installed the SW1000 using the Beta direct X drivers it just \"appears\" in the output side of the config page.
It looks like you might not have installed the driver properly or you might have another soundcard installed that might be throwing the system...

Kia.
Yes, that was the problem. I have another soundcard, a soundblaster live 1024, and that was throwing off the SW1000XG off. But now, the problem is sorted, I reinstalled the beta drivers for SW1000XG, then I reinstalled the soundblaster driver. So now, the SW1000XG output does appear.
Would routing the midi input through the soundblaster than through the SW1000 XG improve the delay? What if I an using the sounds of the Yamaha soundcard, would that cause any delay (from SBLive to SW1000)?
Thank you.
Chino
Give it a whirl and try it.. If it improves the latency then good.. If not, The second generation drivers for the SW1000 (due later this year) will address the latency issue better..

Hi! I have also sw1000xg and I installed yesterday beta DX driver for it but I couldn\'t start the Gigasampler. It starts, tries to profile the harddisks (my disk IBM DDRS 4.5 SCSI) and crashes. It means that the GS crashes but not the system. Do you know the possible answer on it?

Have you just installed GS for the first time ?..

Oh dear Kia.
My setup now is Midi controller in thru my Soundblaster Live, then output GS to SW1000XG. It turns out that it DOES takes 4 years before anything comes out of the other end....sigh. Which makes things sound weird. Anyway, I just hope Yamaha gets this Driver sorted out as soon as possible.
Or do you have any other solutions apart from outputing to my soundblaster?
Regards,
Chino
yes I installed GS for the first time...
KIA!
Yes I installed the GS 1.5 for the first time. But it is strange that GS doesn\'t start. The program is \'profiling\' harddisk.
My system: PII400, 4.5 Gb scsi, 64 Mb, sw1000xg
Guys
I have discovered that the SW1000 \"hogs\" the output drivers of my Montego and doesn\'t allow them to apear in the output box. I have spoke to a \"good technical chum\" in Yamaha about them and he will pass it along. Meanwhile, I have taken the SW1000 out of the loop and just kept in my Montego.
As regards to GS not even going into the program, I have seen that when the sound card is not installed or not installed properly.
I am not too much of a happy bunny yet but I do have the ability to use the Montego in the meantime.

Korg, Iīve got the same problem when trying to start GS 1.5, just today. It crashes when profiling HD, and Iīve got also a SW1000XG, without dx drivers installed yet.
Does anyone knows why?
Did anyone fix it?
My setup:
PII350
128MB RAM
YAMAHA SW1000XG
YAMAHA DS2416
2 UDMA HD(4.1/6.4 GB)
Thanks in advance
Fernando,
I tried with a 10$ sound card.. and see there... it works!!!! My sw1000xg with the directx driver hangs up the GS and thats rediciolous!!! I donīt know why... but I wrote to yamaha and to nemesys. Nemesys told me it is teh problem of a sound card and the yamaha didnīt answer me yet. I let you know when I know something. What expirience do you have regarding sw1000xg?
korg
Chaps
Do not use the SW1000 card without the beta directX drivers installed first....
Gigsampler \"when it profiles\" goes on a
look-see to find any COMPATIBLE sound cards. If it don\'t find em IT WONT WORK...
Thats for ANY sound card.... As I mentioned earlier, If the drivers in the Beta 2 release do as they are supposed to do then the SW1000 will be a stunning card to use with Gigasampler until then the Beta 1 drivers are sluggish, only give you one stereo output and hog the outputs of GS so that even if you have a montego or SB live installed correctly... they wont show up..

Kia
thanks for your help... but......
I installed beta 1 directX drivers for Sw1000 and it didn\'t work. The card has not been recognized by GS. I believe me, I tried this for several times. But at the other hand the Unity and Retro are NOW working after installing this beta 1 drivers, only the GS isn\'t. And from what I have read at the Yamaha page beta driver should do. Is there comming soon a new beta driver? You know it maybe?

Korg and all
my last move after trying to load ,crashing, restarting, crashing, etc. the damn directx drivers for sw1k was to buy a sb live and wait, so I cant be helpful on this at the moment. Iīll post a massage on the next drivers release.
Cheers

Fernando, Kia, Astral.... everybody
after installing the newest version GS 1.6 the program did recognized sw1000xg (beta 1 driver directx) and it works!!! Ok, the latency is not so good but I have hope that Yamaha will solve this problem too and it will bring a better drivers for these great soundcard.
Any suggestions, oppiniouns.... are welcome.
cheers

Great to hear you got the SW1000 to work (at long last) appologies for assuming you had GS 1.6.
Its alway\'s difficult to diagnose and help someone when you forget the easiest questions first..
Even though the latency is not good... a bit of reverb or chorus does make a difference on standard GS files...
Happy playing
