At times, when I have the first violin section and the second violin section playing the same melody, certain notes have a "flange" or "chorus" effect. The parts are not quantized.
Any ideas why this is and what can be done about it?
Thanks in advance,
Ern :)

Hi Ern, that phasing sound you are hearing is normal even with real players "Live". It also appears alot in trumpets where two or more players are playing the same note and with near perfect intonation in relation to each other. If you want to get rid of this, use a different variation of the first or second violins, and/or move the notes a little bit so they don't line up quite so perfectly in the piano roll or Sequence Editor window as Digital Performer calls it.

Thanks, dpDan, I'll experiment with it!

that's cool! :) GOS has two different variations (VAR 1) (VAR 2) in the different string sections, This is perhaps to eliminate this phasing sound that happens occasionally when we have two sections playing the same note.
Gotta love the forsight!

Dan :DExcellent! I also experimented with changing the pitch of the second violins, and it did seem to make a difference.
Will try your suggestion tomorrow ---
Ern :)
