well, then you are not looking for a vocal synth but rather a vocoder I believe.
HERE (http://www.kvraudio.com/get.php?mode=results&st=adv&soft=e&type%5B%5D=58&f=0&fe=0&linux=1&mac=1&osx=1&win=1&free=1&com=1&un=1&sf=0&receptor=&sort=1&rpp=30) is a few to start with :D

You should look at the Roland V-Synth (www.v-synth.com) especially with the impending release of the VC-2 vocal card. It sounds amazing. Check it out.

Thanks again

The Korg MS2000B has an awesome vocoder built in and much cheaper than the v-synth...Cheaper option would be an older version - MS2000 that doesn't have the built in mic but instead an input for a mic...These 2 also have rack versions which would be a little cheaper yet MS2000BR and MS2000R respectively....Check Ebay for the older ones....I haven't heard a software plugin that does as good a job as this but I haven't exactly looked either....

you don't want a robot. well then you don't want a vocoder either i suppose.
Hmm.... nothing perfect has been done yet.
The only vocal synths I'm aware of is
Vocaloid (Lola, Leon and Miriam)
http://www.zero-g.co.uk/index.cfm?articleid=805
and Cantor
http://www.virsyn.de/en/E_Products/E_CANTOR/e_cantor.html
and Symphonic choir if you want a choir

Orange 2 is about to be released.
Cheap and cheerful and does the rick...
But if it's hardware you want, then budget dictates.
From a simple Boss SE70 to the big boys...VP330, SVC350, EMS 2000, Eventide Eclipse blah and blah again...
But to be able to sample and apply some clever manipulation, then don't diso~~~~ the Roland VP technology, as mentioned before. You can still find a 9000 cheap on ebay..might be worth having a look.

Hey Abdullah...you know...what you hear under the choirs is a reversed wave. I didnīt re-reverse it to know for sure where was it taken from, but judging by the style, I'd bet it's some Take 6 song. Err...I hope the producer has the rights to do something like that :-)
Hope it helps.

It sounds like the vocal parts were "multiplied" to sound like a choir, cos there's some flanging going on.
There're some vst plugins that might do that -
Clone Ensemble4 http://www.cloneensemble.com/
Besides making one voice sound like an ensemble, this one has a "gender" changer as well.
Choir Boy http://www.elevayta.com/
This one's new.
Otherwise, you can manually duplicating the vocal parts, change the EQ and timings to make it sound like there's more than one singer.

Assuming that you are happy to do the basic performance with your own voice, then the next step is a processor which gives you multiple harmonies of different character.
Try this:

Demos of different models can be reached from here:

Abdullah: there's has been like 8-10 different suggestions for vocal synths in this thread. Have you actually tried them?
What do you want?
1. A synth that can sing? meaning you enter words and it sings for you?
2. a synth that can do basic aaaahh and oooooh?
3. A plugin where you record your song and it changes your vocal?
1. Symphonic choir is the best. But it's only for choir and it's rather expensive.
Solo song. Vocaloid and cantor can do that, but they sound a bit synthetic.
2. I think Vocal http://www.concretefx.com/Vocal.htm can do that.
3. Here you are either looking at vocoders, but they make you sound robotic, or you can looking at harmonisers which makes you sound like 2, 3 of 4 people singing.
so which one is it? I can't really tell from the mp3 what it is you are looking for .
