Yup, just for Mac users. I've always liked OSX (in all of it's various forms). Too bad I can't use sonar on a mac, otherwise I might have gotten on a little while back. Don't feel like switching to SX, logic or DP right now.

Will mamma Apple help us faithful users to avoid emargination?...(we were the music world rulers once upon a time...;-))
A chilly shower was shocking me hearing about "some" product unavailable for Mac for a while.... :(

Gary, Does this mean you have to re-vamp GPO player for this?
Pobably not. I am excited for it, personally, I love the new features.
I hope it is more spiffy than previous versions. Panther (OS X 10.3) seems more spiffy than Jaguar (OSX 10.2) did - and I am hoping the same from Tiger.
I just need a newer mac! :)

Since I just purchased my laptop, I'll be getting Tiger for the price of the media (and shipping). Do you know of any issues with GPO yet, Gary?

Wow, I can't wait! I've been a MAC user for a year now after I bought my duel G5 and I love OS X Panther. Looking at all these new features makes me drool. Mac is coming up and getting ahead in the game now and I love it. After being a Windoze based PC user for so long I'm sorry that I wasted so much of my time on Windoze.
When I get the money I'm putting it down for Tiger! Thanks for the links!

Steve Jobs has been quoted as saying that Tiger will be the biggest OS advancement for the Mac since it's introduction in 1984.

Well I dunno about that. It sure sounds good to investors though.
But I did already pre-order my copy from Apple, and it's supposed to arrive on my doorstep on the 29th.

Didn't he also say that people would build cities around the Segway?

Actually people are building Walmarts around those electric wheel sofas. Or are they building people for the electric wheel sofas?
Maybe the answere to the energy crunch is a hydrogen powered wheel sofa. :)
Didn't he also say that people would build cities around the Segway?
Actually, I believe his actual thoughts on the Segway were a wee bit more critical:
"I think it sucks!" said Jobs.
His vehemence made Tim pause. "Why?" he asked, a bit stiffly.
"It just does."

Some users wrote and reported various problems with GPO and Tiger. I am discussing this with Native Instruments and will let you know as soon as I have more information.
It seems that other programs are also having difficulty. According to RSPE, Tiger will not yet work with the current version of Pro Tools (6.9 and earlier).

There is a certain amount of disatisfaction with Tiger and DP users on the Unicornation website too, but then again there are users that have Tiger installed and DP is working great!
Who knows?

Here is a guide to installing Tiger from MacWorld. It does get more complicated when dealing with copy protected software which makes it tempting to just do a basic upgrade.

Yeah, guys, and I don't see where this fantastic "Tiger" can even make an APPENDABLE CD for music or data files with everything else it does. I have been a Mac User for years and OS X 10.2.6 bragged about being able to append files on an already burned CD like my (cheap in comparison) PC, but it doesn't work. I've spent hours with the Apple Support people and no-one yet can get it to work. They told me it was fixed in 10.3.5, so I upgraded to that OS. NOPE, it doesn't work there either.
So, when a Mac (and I have 3 of them right now--the latest a 1.5 Ghz !GB RAM PowerBook laptop) can make appendable CDs (a minor task for most other computers), I'll buy in for the upgrade. Until then, I have my toolbox and it works........

I’ve been an unwilling beta tester over the years for far too much software. I know it must be a daunting task to develop a new system for any platform, and I’m sure that the new features in Tiger are all wonderful, but I’ll just let someone else do Apple’s beta testing only to find out that the software they use everyday, won’t run under it. I’ll just remain happily deprived, Using Panther.
My philosophy about such things is that, when Apple or Microsoft, releases a new major upgrade, it means that the old one is finally stable. So it’s time for me to move up to the old one.
Sometimes I really miss the old O.S. 9. I understood it, I could resolve most problems with ease, I didn’t have to become friends with Unix, and I didn’t have to give up half my hard drive’s space to hold a behemoth system, only to use half of it’s features.
A case in point is our microwave oven. How many of those buttons do we really ever use? There is one for popcorn. This might be nice for someone like a child who doesn’t know that it takes 2 minutes on our microwave to pop a bag of popcorn. But now the popcorn makers have come out with their new, smaller, snack sizes. If you use the old popcorn button on these you’ll burn the popcorn. I guess it’s time to buy a new microwave. :D
Will it never end?

I don't understand why anyone doing mission-critical work would attempt a major upgrade at the instant it is released. That's just asking for trouble. It's usually best to wait at least three months, and possibly as many as six.

I agree with not upgrading as soon as it comes out, not only for the bugs in Tiger, but a couple programs I use have to fix incompatibilities. That is no problem for me because I really like Panther anyway!
