View Full Version : G.P.O. Haikus?

My wife is teaching her class about Haikus. So at dinner tonight I got the idea of seeing how many Haikus this forum might come up with about GPO.
Haiku is an ancient form of Japanese poetry. It has only three lines that don't rhyme. The first line has five syllables, the second has seven and the third has five again. So there be seventeen syllables in all (Styxx is getting to me). :D It is said that one should avoid similes and metaphors and retain Japanese values of lightness, simplicity, openness, and depth.
Anyone care to join me in seeing how creative we can be? To start the ball rolling, I'll submit this one.
Restless soul, so lost
In maze of lifeless samples.
Then came G. P. O.

I'm worn, I'm woosy,
GPO tired me but good
On to sleep and dreams
(any better?)

Fantastic inventive idea Karl. I love Haiku but haven't thought about them for years since I first came across them during my children's schooling! (and had a go myself!http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif )
I hope you don't mind if I join in....
Marvellous moments
Creative, despair and joy
GPO delights
Thanks for this http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

We shall never know
the forgotten melodies
written long ago
Though we write today
Remember that no music
doth last forever
Writing these Haikus
is so very addicting
I hope mine are good

Several years ago, MOTU posted a section on their website with tech-support haikus for Performer / Digital Performer; I thought it was a brilliant way to present technical tips and advice. I just checked it appears that MOTU has removed the haikus.

OK, it's clever,
however, it's a sentence,
it's just not haiku!
I just thought you ought to know!

Nice try Gary but you missed a line and you've got the wrong number of syllables as well. Don't give up though....give it another try!:D :D
I was also being facetious... but I still thought it was good!http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif
