"Running Ink"
Libretto by Alan Lastufka

"Makes Tommy and Rent Sound Like Rogers and Hammerstein"
- M. Vaughn, Professor of English

I am looking for one male and (possibly) two female vocalists for an original modern (rock) opera recording. The opera is comparable to (or musically a mix of) Pink Floyd's "The Wall", Dream Theater's "Metropolis Pt II: Scenes From A Memory" and Nine Inch Nails' "The Fragile".

Classical training is not required but is welcomed.

Male vocal styles can range from:
- Trent Reznor
- Chester Bennington or
- James LaBrie
and need to have a decent range.

Female vocal styles can range from:
- Tori Amos
- Shirley Manson
- Marianne Faithfull
and will also need a decent range.

The subject matter is mature and anyone interested is urged to request an excerpt of the libretto if this may be an issue.

Those auditioning will need to have access to professional-quality recording environment and equipment. You will need to provide a 24-bit / 96kHz .wav recording of your performance upon completion.

I would prefer a vocalist who would be interested in participating on a creative level instead of a hired hand. The libretto is nearly complete and some themes are being developed musically - but I really need a vocalist to help drive home on the musical side.

If interested please send a resume (with payment requirements/or willingness to join the team as a creative aspect instead of hired hand) to alan@alanjoseph.com and feel free to include links to previous performances (please do not "attach" these files, links to online files only).

The above address is also where you should write to if you wish to request an excerpt of the libretto.

The score will be comprised 90% of sample libs.

Thanks in advance,

Theodor

Theodor,

Check your email, I've sent the libretto excerpt and a link to some mp3s of the themes I am developing for the music. Thanks.

Jimi,

The vocal parts are not written yet, which is why I am looking for someone who would like to join as a team member over someone who just wants to be hired to read from the sheet. But I write alot around E, F and A so figure the vocals will float around a low E, up to a higher F, so, alittle over an octave, I guess?

I just need someone who has what might be described as a "dynamic" voice.

Thanks for your interest.
