View Full Version : CPU at 30% when K2 Demo at rest.

I am trying to get some info on whether or not to try and use my NI libraries in Pro Tools/Mac or go with PC's and use Nuendo.

I downloaded the Kontakt2 Demo and noticed that with the 6 instruments loaded as a standalone, the CPU was hitting 30% on my Dual 1.25 with 2 gig RAM. It was in standalone, but using my Digi 002r as output.

That does not seem very good.

Can anyone provide some comparisons?

K2 is affected by some CPU-related bugs that we are trying to track. Does this CPU load occur after moving any midi controller?

The same happen s here ... no midi controllers ... it seems to depend on how many instruments you have loaded into Kontakt. In my case: 55 instruments.

Hmm ... I hope NI will figure that out soon.

All the best,
Pan

All the best,
PanLet me get this straight. You've got FIFTY-FIVE instruments loaded and only 30% CPU? Sounds good to me.

:p

No, I'm somewhere around at 50 % ...
But hey ... when I use the EXS-24 instead, there is nearly no CPU usage when no samples are triggered.

Here I have 50 % CPU consumption without doing anything!

I mean that's pretty crazy?
Is there any way to reduce this?

A serious bug, leading to extreme CPU load, apparently affecting Pentium processors only, has been identified and corrected in version 2.02. :)

Do you know when the update for Kontakt 2 will be released?

Maybe I'm actually not up-to-date but there is a update 2.02 for Kontakt released? I have to look for it at NI ...
Probably only for Windows, right? Or also for Mac?

As of about 5 hours ago, there was only 2.01 update available for windows.
