Hi, I'm experiencing the following problem with Giga 3.04 Orchestra: The "+ signs" for every Gig-files do not appear, so that I can load only the whole Instrument with all its variations. Tried rebuilding the Database with "show tree.." option several times without improvement. "*.gig" is typed in the search field, but "+ signs" are only available in the first folder level (main folders) - not for the Gig-files . The Tascam supporter gave up on it after two attempts.
Please help me out of this situation.
Thankyou for your suggestions!!

Go into Quicksound settings and uncheck "show only instruments that match search". That did it for me after all else failed.

No sweat. Almost seems to me like admin should sticky this one. It's a major pain, and hard to figure out on one's own.

Thanks so much!! I'm new to Gigastudio (Giga 3 Orchestra) and I ran into this problem very early on. I've spent ages trying to figure out a solution and I'd given up until I saw this thread.
Things are going to be much simpler from now on. :D
Thanks again!

As a matter of interest ...
Do any of you guys use a Mac but have Giga on a seperate PC?
Have you recently downloaded Giga sounds from the Internet onto your Mac?
Did you burn a CD on the Mac and load it into your PC?
Is this when the problem started?

No, No, No and no. Why do you ask? Did you have this problem sometime shortly after doing the above yourself?
Just what are you driving at there, Commander?

I'm a Mac guy and "yes, yes, yes....and yes!!!" I had downloaded the sounds from VSL (on my Mac laptop) burned them to a CD (on my Mac G5) and then loaded them to each on my PC's. It was then all !@#$ broke loose!
Didn't know if that was a coincidence or not. However in bringing this issue to light with TASCAM tech support they told me to convert all of my gig files to 3.0...I'm in the process of doing that (all 7, 253 of them!!!) and the good news is...it seems to be correcting the problem!!!
So, my recommendation is to convert. The old file formats seem to be the empitus for a lot of 3.1's ills. (At least that's my story-and theirs-and I'm stickin' to it!)

Wow, this answered the question I had (missing +) and was at the very top of the forum. Thanks!

Yes I did have exactly that problem and it seems a few others have reported the same thing on another thread, all Mac users, and all having the missing + problem after downloading onto a Mac and then transferring to PC. I'm sure this can't simply be a coincidence!

Rob - how do you convert files? Do you have to do them one at a time?

Commander,
I open Gigastudio, right click on a hard drive that contains the gig files, select "convert to 3.0" and away they go! Pretty painless, but can take a long time. Let it do it's thing over night. You also can cancel the operation and then start it later on and it will pass over the files that it has already converted.
Hope this helps!
