Very nice playing!
The microphone placement in the samples is primarily centered (not wide stereo) but the sound of the piano whenever the sustain pedal is supressed is much wider stereo, could this be addressed?
Thank you Michiel
Dan
Hi,
I noticed this too. Did I read it correctly? The price will be $1,295 US?

The sustain samples CAN be as wide or centered as you like. We have several diferent sustain wavepools by the way.
All aspects of this piano can be changed via midi cc data, including the stereo field.

Whee, now that's one heck of a piano. :)
Ouch that hurts

Maybe we'll know that sampled pianos have really "arrived" when they come on so many DVDs that they weigh more than a real steinway!
And cost more too :)

Hey,
A few questions though. Exactly how big is it? 45Gb ? or are they double dvds . Will there be a discount for current customers? I get the impression that this is very much a custom , made to order and such. Would this be the case or do you plan more libraries like it for other pianos ? Btw what type of piano is it ? ( forgive my lack of piano knowledge ) . It truely do sounds great :-D .
Cheers,
Johnny

Which piano was sampled? Steinway, Yamaha, etc? Huh?

From what I understand, only two DVDs concern the new 96 for Kontakt 2. Will there be a purchase option for those who already have the other 7 DVDs ?

Hi, Michiel. Demo sounds great. You're certainly raising the piano bar. Which brings to mind a few technical questions.
Wondering how you do those damper lifting effects. Was trying that myself and had to devote a foot pedal on a controller and a rule to force direct-sound sample volume to zero when the special pedal was down while still feeding to a sustain pedal-down convolution simulator. Hokey and unnatural but that was the best I could come up with short of programing my own tft-strip action.
Also wondering about the horsepower required to operate your piano at 96K. With the Studio West 96K GS3 piano I find I have to shut off all the convolution-based features to run them at 96K on my 2.8 ghz system.

A few questions though. Exactly how big is it? 45Gb ? or are they double dvds . The size is not set, it will be over 40 Gb in total, double layer DVDīs are used and each piano is between 3 and 8 GB.
Will there be a discount for current customers? Sure.
I get the impression that this is very much a custom , made to order and such. Would this be the case or do you plan more libraries like it for other pianos ? This IS a project for professionals, a kind of one solution for all situations, with more pianos than you would normally use.
Btw what type of piano is it ? ( forgive my lack of piano knowledge ) . This package contains all the pianos you would ever want to have and in several flavours (Bos, Stw, Yam and others).
It truely do sounds great :-D .Thanks!

Horsepower: the latest PCīs (and the fastest Macīs) have enough power to run 96 kHz huge piano libraries. Maximum memory and Sata helps a lot.
The weakest point is probably sympathetic resonance, it is best to render a separate track with it, playing the parts without this effect. In fact the symp res effect is rather subtle. Having it available during recording of tracks can cause a computer to stutter. Symp res easily generates 80+ extra notes from a 8 note chord with the sustain pedal down. Convolution is raw CPU power. The latest Intel and Athlons chips can usually handle two instances during live playing. Same rule counts here. Render extra convolution effects in a separate track.
The damper lifting effect was recorded and is triggered by a script using the regular cc 64 sustain pedal status.

Hey,
Cheers for that michiel :)
I'd just jumped on the full group buy ( piano magic and consolidated ) thinking ' ah ha , my piano collection is sorted for now ' , and then I see this. That said, good job on pushing the envelope on sampling :) . I'm sure i'll be working on your current libraries for a long time to come but I'm sure I'll get this on the shopping list soon, upgrade cost and bank balance permiting. That said I'll have to get myself a top notch G5 first and a great controller to really take advantage ;) .
Again good job. Looking forwarding to seeing what you have in store for us all.
PS. Any word if you'll be going for the pro piano scripting?
Cheers,

I hear a high ringing on a few notes (air in the sample), other then that it sounds fantastic.

Pro PSR, naturally. I didn't have the time to do this yet, but naturally a professional piano needs the best scripts available!
