sound card and computer to work with giga?

i am about to sell my akai s3000xl to jump to giga experience... i would like to know what motherboard and processor i should buy?
I plan to buy a Sek\'d prodif: is-it working well with giga?
Giga reads sampes directly from the harddrive, so do i need loars of RAM memory?
