This instrument that sounds like a "Erhu" or a Cello, we can hear it in a lot of film scores like : man on fire, blackhawk down, the passion of the christ..

I'm talking about the instrument that starts at 07 seconds.
What's his name ?

Btw, has it ever been sampled ?

Thx

It's an electric cello. I don't know of any sample libraries containing it.

ok thanks

Is there any way to "electricize" a sampled cello like VSL one or EWQLSO to make him sound like an electric cello ? :)

well, you could, but you'll need to get rid of some of the instrument body resonance by EQ-ing in the lowmid frequencies (try cutting around 150 Hz), because an electric cello doesn't nearly have the resonance of an acoustic cello. Try adding a chorus or flanger effect to it afterwards.

Interesting. Is there distortion as well?

John, from which movie is your sample?

Black Hawk Down ( mainly scored by hans zimmer )

I just tested some flanger and chorus effects on a cello sample, it's promising but i'm not a good engineer it doesn't sound perfect
