You won't find any better music box sample...even if you pay!!! ;)
Amazing sound. And you can check it at Theo's demo "Pandora's box" at Bela D Media web.

Thanks Tari, it was a lot of fun to make, but it was Frank's idea to give it away as freeware. It blends really well with Giovani too, but that one will cost you just a little more than the music box will. ;)

Great samples like GMB and GIO blend well with almost anything... ;) Alan, I have a curiosity. Can you post a photo of the original music box?

Wonderful photos Alan, thanks :) I had never see a music box like that.

I don't know how a tube one sounds, but this one is really gothic. As always Bela D is able to catch the soul in its samples. I love that ;)

Hey, not to detract from the tube vs solid state music box debate...

I tried to download the EXS version that Ned made, and all that I get is a .txt file with a bunch of unrecognizable fonts on them. I get this whether I click the download link, or "Save download link" from right clicking the mouse.

Any ideas?

Here's another free music box (and other stuff - toy piano etc). Rather good with the added advantage of including a separate patch of the gears - nice authentic touch!

Hey Heath,

I just downloaded them. There were some drum loops playing in the music box samples after the note finishes ( on D5 if i remember correctly! ). Pretty weird music box that one , it has an integrated drum machine hehe :)

Some good samples though. Thanks for the link!

Theo,
I just downloaded those files and there is no drum loop in any of the samples I have. Puzzled by that. I like the little gear sounds on the C2 key. Very nice.

Scoring Noise Pro vol 1 and 2 won't be free and are not the same concept. See ya in December about that ;)

Hey J,

I am bit crazy but i don't imagine drum loops! My imaginary friend heard it too.

Load ReynMusicBox1 and hold either C4, C#4 or D4 until the note ends.
There is a drum loop playing.

This is the sample: MB1C4.wav

Ahh yes there it is. I was listening to D5 which I think you mentioned in the earlier post. It's in the C4 wav file but an easy edit to get rid of it. Odd though.

wow. thanks for the great freebie. it sounds great.

btw, anyone here who knows to find sample sounds of the musicbox's switch that is being turned (rotated)?
sorry for my bad english, i have a hard time to describe it.
But you know the little knob in the musicbox that usually being turned first before the musicbox could actually play? that is what i meant.
thanks

Argitoth,

Not sure why it's giving a 404 on the web page, I'll look into that, for now, here's a direct link to DL it:

After reading your other thread though, I must warn you, I sampled this for fun one afternoon for one of my own projects, it really wasn't meant to be officially released, so there are no alternating samples or multiple articulations, etc, it's simply a natural, creepy sounding music box. :)

It is the most magical music box I have ever heard. I used it recently for an introduction in a videogame as one of the main instruments and was fantastic.

Perhaps don't have round robin samples, but have round robin magic;)

Check out Bolder Sounds, I'm sure they have a good free music box too.
