Yes its August 23rd and William Wallace day. Who could forget such a historical event that gave us the platform for Mel Gibson's vanity. Let's celibrate the return of a good and true scotsman by remembering some of those famous lines from the movie:

WALLACE: "[pauses, then sighs sadly] She was my wife. We married in secret because I would not share her with an English lord. They killed her to get to me. I've never spoken of it, I don't know why I tell you now, except... I see her strength in you. One day, you will be a queen. And you must open your eyes.
[regains composure, speaks firmly]
You tell your king that William Wallace will NOT be ruled... and nor will any Scot while I live."

***
ROBERTS DAD: "At last, you know what it means to hate. Now you're ready to be a king."
ROBERT THE BRUCE: "My hate will die with you."

* * *
WALLACE: "We all end up dead, the question is how and why."

* * *
LONGSHANKS: "Who is this person that speaks to me as though I needed his advice?"
* * *
WALLACE: Why do you help me?
PRINCESS ISABELLA: Because of the way you are looking at me now.
* * *
STEPHEN: In order to converse with an equal, an Irishman is forced to talk to God.
* * *
ENGLISH COMMANDER: I hope you washed your ~~~ this morning, it's about to be kissed by a king.
* * *
LONGSHANKS: The trouble with Scotland is that it's full of Scots.

HAhaaaaa HAAAAAA! Oh God Almighty. You are seriously out there somewhere. :D

Yeah - that's a gem of a line right there. Hahaha!

Dreadful, deadful film! So historically inacurate - it actually made me hurl.

Give 'em the credit for learning the accent :) One of my fave lines from Mad Magazine, from a Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves parody: "Ah Robin, you've lost everything .. your castle, your family, and your English accent"

Mad Magazine! That's NMB's weekly auto-biography. :D

That's right - can't remember too many actors over the years who actually played Robin Hood who were in fact English. Richard Greene maybe.

Eroll Flynn's wonderful operatic performance and the stunning delivery line ' Welcome to Sherwood Forest M'Lady' in superb Aussie drawl - Kevin Costner getting upstaged by Alan Rickman is another highlight - and not to forget Sean Connery - yoo mhusht be choking!

:D
