Tie release sample volume to the envelope of the original sample?

I was wondering if this is possible. I like using (envelope) decay a lot when I compose, but if I have samples that also use a release sample, that sample plays at full volume even if the original sound's decayed.

Example: I press and hold a key until the sound has decayed completely (silence). Then, when I release the key, the release sample still plays at full volume.

The same applies if I have a long attack. If I release the key before the sound has reached it's full volume, the release sample still plays at full volume.

Is it possible to tie the release sample's volume to the volume of the original sample? So that they match each other? (or is this even possible?) :confused:

BobHmm. I got it to work, but... I change the decay of my samples a lot in realtime (with MIDI cc's) so sometimes I have samples that decay in 25 seconds, and sometimes in 1 second. If a counter is used, the decay need do be fixed to have a matching release sample. Hmmm.. I can't figure a way to make it work. I appreciate the help though. I wasn't aware of the release counter before.

If you are controlling the length of your decay with a CC, why not use that same CC to control the volume of the release group's amplifier? K2's modulation routers are very flexible, once you take the time to study them. You might be able to find some combination of intensity settings along with the use of the 'rescale function' (see page 196 of the K2 manual) that will track your decay function closely.

...Hmm, good idea. It's still a bit messy though, since the end volume depends on both the decay I've selected for the main sample AND the time I choose to release the key (during the decay). I wish there was a way to tie different groups to the same envelope, or a way to have the envelope start as usual at key down, and the sample start sounding at release trigger. Hmm.

One thing that also adds complexity to it is that I change the attack of the samples a lot also. And often I release the sample before the sample has full intensity. Then the release sample need to have lower volume, too. :)
