Last Friday, I had the great pleasure of playing on a recording session at Capitol with the Chris Walden Big Band; it was my first time playing with a big band in years and it was real thrill. I was somewhat awed to be in the room with many of LA's top jazz and session musicians. Incidentally, my copy of JABB had arrived the day before. Anyone getting into big band composing and arranging via JABB should check out Chris' great writing - there are a few sample clips on his website, and I highly recommend his most recent CD, "Home of my Heart".
