Hello,

Given the trend towards DVD sample libraries it looks like I\'ll need to have a DVD drive for my Giga-PC (read only, at least).

There is no more room in my rack mounted PC for an internal drive so it seems that the simplest solution would be to get a firewire CD/DVD drive. I already have a firewire card for the firewire hard drive I use for backing up.
I am running Windows 98SE, but all I want to do is transfer the samples from DVD to my internal drives. This is what I do now when backing up to and from my firewire hard drive.

Is this a workable solution or am I missing something. I am a Mac guy who is PC illiterate so any advice would be appreciated.

You can replace your CD drive with a DVD drive. I just replaced the CD drive in my wife\'s computer with a 16x DVD drive which cost me $46. They\'re pretty easy to install. The DVD drive plays regular CD\'s at 48x.
