no, I mean the composition competition where the grand prize was a performance by a live orchestra.

I think I've heard Gary trying to get an orchestra to play at Carnegie Hall for the competition. Maybe it'll be announced soon, I'm pretty anxious to see the pieces entered in the contest. :)

I think I remember reading that the Carnegie Hall thing fell thru, but Gary was still looking for other options.

Yep - the union regulations and restrictions made what Gary wanted to do there practically impossible.

I remember wanting to get a recording of the performance of the choir I sang in (It was mass choir comprised of 3 college choirs singing Brahms' Nänie and Schicksaslied with the Brooklyn Philharmonic led my Helmuth Rilling), but the Union wouldn't let them distribute it (if they let it get recorded at all). Bummer.
I already have an idea of what I am doing for the next one, when announced.
