Which DAC for the SB live ?

I carried out blind comparison between the analog output of the SB live and the digital output routed to an Akai S 1000. While not outstanding, the difference is clearly audible in terms of better definition of the latter. If the digital output of the SB is to be used, which DAC would you interface to it ?

I am interested in the same question because I am using the analog-outs of my Soundblaster AWE 64-Gold. But I even do not know which sort of cable you have to connect to that little 20-bit-thing on the card. Is a major improve to be expected ?
